Jefferson Here - and I sent her a reply, a funny thing, I now work
for a
group that goes around doing services (such as document digitization, GIS
mapping, ground penetrating radar, restoration, etc...) and we actually
donate work for places like this. I emailed her hoping to come up with a
little better description of the location so I can see what we could do to
help out the little place. But I am curious, does anyone know of this
cemetery? We have it in our database of Burial Places of Colorado, but very
very little info and for some reason, no location....
Either way this is an interesting inquiry, thanks for passing it on!

In 2005 an aquaintance of mine was researching the (HURD) family. I live in
Michigan where this particular Hurd familystarted out to the west about
mid-1890s.My friend lives in Colorado, so since we knew they were there in
the area of Mosca, Costilla County, She done a lot of searching. News
articles indicated that our ancestor, Julius Hurd and wife Lucia Hurd and
some of their family lived at the Seven Mile Plaza, where he was head
gatekeeper of the Prairy Ditch. Lucia died in 1897, I assume somewhere in
that area where they were living. Another Hurd family lived in that area
also and my friend found an obituary for one of their family who had been
buried at a cemetery known as the Stanley Baptist Cemetery. She found the
cemetery which was a terrible mess, all grown over with weeds and only a
couple of unreadabe grave stones. This cemetery does not show up on any
cemetery list on line. I am thinking our Lucia Hurd is buried there also
and maybe others unknown to me. This Stanley Baptist Cemetery is important
to us researching our ancestors and I feel it should be listed even though
it is abandoned. Do you have any information about this Stanley Baptist
Cemetery. She said it was located in the area of Seven Mile Plaza. Also,
where in the world on line is there any information about land owners in
that area?
