I had a friend from the Kansas GenWeb ask me a question I had no real clue to. Apparently
she asked around her group regarding the use of CMS solutions, like Wordpress or Drupal.
But no one had an idea about moving over to such a format. How do you think she should
handle that. She likes that kind of formatting (as do I, but rootsweb won't allow it
:)) and so she'd like to transfer over. Should she stay away from such an idea?
I'll forward any answers on to her.... and thanks ahead of time.

Mathew, I think that using Drupal and WordPress are just a matter of preference. Both are
free to use and install. I personally don't use them, but I have set up a couple
WordPress sites for clients. My son loves Drupal. I can't speak for Drupal since I
have never used it or set a Drupal site up for someone.
I think you can still have WordPress host your site for free on their server, but many
host providers (paid) also support it and will help you install it. Installing WordPress
on your own,can be a real hair puller outer experience.
WordPress is great if you like one of the many free templates you can use, but customizing
them can be a real bear. Like all freebies, some templates are better than others.
WordPress does have a learning curve. It is somewhat limited as well in some areas, but is
becoming more website friendly than it was in the past when it was almost 100% blogging
software. I'm not sure how well it will work for a genealogy website, but with a
little creativity and work, I expect that it will work fine.
