The boy scouts are a great resource in my area, Southwest Weld County. Our
Highlandlake Cemetery has been the beneficiary of several Eagle Scout
projects. The most recent will happen as soon as school is out. We will be
getting a sign with the name of the Cemetery on it, another sign with a plot
map on it, the fence repaired, weeds sprayed, the cemetery cleaned up, and
flowers planted in front of every headstone. Also they will be trimming
trees and re-seeding where necessary.
If you can get a local troop interested in cemetery preservation it is
amazing what can be done.

I have many boy scout troops doing cemetery transcriptions for their
genealogy badges in Ohio. They contacted me but I now coordinate
via the Boy Scouts of America troop leader for Southern Ohio so there
is consistency. Part of the requirement is that I actually receive the
transcriptions and I have to verify them. Would you like me to ask him
if there is a counterpart in Colorado?

That is a great idea Maggie! Please do check to see if there is a Boy
Scout
Troop leader for Colorado. Let us know here on the list if you get in
contact
with them.
