I still vote No, for the previous given reasons and -
Won't anyone ever let it go and get back to the business of the USGenWeb
PROJECT.
The latest "[USGenWeb-NW] Motion 00-12 Results," for those not
subscribed to that list here is what that vote pretains to.
Quote
The motion made by Richard, seconded by Maggie and later modified by
Richard:
"I move to find the logos (know as protest logo's) as inappropriate and
in
non-compliance, and those displaying them after 23:59 on 21 May, 2000
"NOT"
to be in good standing with USGWP." Unquote
Several months ago I pointed out to a SC that a logo displayed on a
state page was not on the USGENWEB approved logo's page
http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/namelogo.html (and it is still not
but still appears on the page) I was told "that's O.K., it has been
approved". When I first came onboard USGENWEB in 1996 there was only
one logo, now it appears that anyone can modify the logo as long as
someone (the powers that be) does not view it as a protest logo......
For some reason I do not recall ever even having the opportunity to vote
on any alternate logo.
One could say that all except the original logo are protest logos and
that would put one heck of a lot of sites on the "not in good standing
list", or possibly they would be in the majority which would put the
USGENWEB in the "not in good standing list with the states and
counties......who is to say?
This whole thing, starting from the melee over the census project to the
protest logos, and everything in between is trash. If you had not had
one you would not have had the other.
The old saying is correct, put two "people" or nations togather (in any
environment) and they will find reason to argue and in some cases even
go to war. It seems that the USGENWEB is at war with its self.
I wonder if maybe we shouldn't just recall the project and start
over!!!!!!!!!!
