<< Dear All,
It would seem that my little campaign to remove my gedcom for use by
KindredKonnections, for profit, has been successful.
When conducting a search for certain names in my gedcom, there are no longer
any references to my gedcom on their server. However, I will continue to
monitor them over the next several weeks to make certain that it is not
being used again.
For those of you who feel that Kindred Konnections is using your information
for profit, whether through links, or by using an entire gedcom, I suggest
that you contact their server. This seems to be the most effective means of
fighting this kind of vampiring by KK.
The URL to report copyright violations by Kindred Konnections is at:
http://www.inconnect.com/copyright.html
From my own experience, I would recomment not bothering to discuss any
violations with the webmaster, Cindy Carman. She will throw
temper-tantrums, stomp her feet, scream "slander and libel" and etc. These
are all attempts to redirect the issue from copyright violations to her own
need to make a profit from your hard work. So, instead of trying to deal
with someone of obvious limited intelligence and lacking in no conscience to
use others' work for profit, I recommend just going directly to the server
to file a claim of copyright infringement.
Feel free to forward this to anyone who is having their work used for profit
by Kindred Konnections.
Carol
