Who decided this and why wasn't there any discussion?
As Gail explained, it wasn't really a matter of "choice". It was a
decision made of necessity. When Daryl passed away there was no way for
anyone to deal with any issues that might arise on the list. New people
couldn't be subscribed. Ones that left the COGenWeb couldn't be
un-subscribed.
We, the administrators, of this group would rather have left things as
they were, but that just wasn't possible.
Next, who "subscribed" us? And why were we not
"subscribed" the way we were
on the other one (i.e. digest vs. letter)? Did it cross anyone's mind that
we were subscribed to the version we were for a reason?????
The people on the Google list *HAD* to be subscribed to the list on
Rootsweb. That also was not a "choice".

To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to COGEN-request(a)rootsweb.com with the
word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
If you not subscribed in the mode you wish first send a message to
COGEN-D-request(a)rootsweb.com with only the word "subscribe" in the
subject and text of the message [ without the quotation marks of course
]. That will subscribe you in digest mode. Give that a day or two so
your sure your subscribed properly then follow the un-subscription
instructions above or at the bottom of this e-mail.
We, the administrators of COGenWeb are sorry if there is any
inconvenience. We didn't have a choice.
