Hi,
I hope someone can help me because I have a lot of
obits to add to my county site, and also school
census, and I can't find my password to update my
files. I'm hoping someone can help. It's obvious
that the rootsweb webmaster isn't much help. My name
is right on the list, and we did update it but it
hasn't been for a long time.

Also,
You don't have me listed as the coordinator for Weld County. I only adopted out Boulder, still holding on to Weld.

Sundee,
You are still showing Boulder as adoptable, and unless Vicki and Sully quit already, I don't think that is the case.

Looking at the included census the "southern" coal field around Trinidad
would indeed seem to be the place to look. I think the Colorado State
Archives and DPL Western History Collections would be good places to look.
For your background, coal mining in the late 1800 and early 1900s tended to
concentrate along the front range in two fields. The southern one from
Walsenberg south into N.M and the northern one (often called the Boulder
field) extending north from Colorado Springs into Wyoming. Louisville,
Laffette, and Erie were all "coal towns". Other parts of the state also
have extensive coal deposits and had coal mining in their day.

A few notes:
1) I thought Boulder was adopted a couple of months ago?
2) Weld doesn't have a coordinator listed.
3) Lee Smith has had the Tombstone Transcription Project since last summer.
Plus your link for the project is outdated. The new one is

There is a very good book called "Coal People: Life in Southern
Colorado's Company Towns, 1890-1930" by Rick J. Clyne, published by
the Colorado Historical Society, 1999. It covers Las Animas and
Huerfano Counties.
Also, the table at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cogenweb/cotable.htm
covers Custer County correctly.
