Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Dear COGDELL - COGDALE List Members,
As you may already know, RootsWeb and Ancestry have merged and are in the
process of reorganizing the GenConnect Boards where many of you and other
non-COGDELL list persons post their COGDELL queries. The newly designed
boards offer a number of new and improved features, but were released in a
"beta-test" form (meaning many bugs have yet to be worked out). I
understand, however, that many of the problems are on the "Administrative"
side and not on the "visitors" side, so should not affect your ability to
successfully post messages. Since I am the Administrator of the RootsWeb
COGDELL Message Board, please feel free to email me if you visit the
COGDELL Board and encounter any problems either in posting a message or
finding your way around the newly organized board. Also, feel free to make
any suggestions for improvement, since the boards are currently being
reworked. I will pass your comment(s) on to the RootsWeb/Ancestry "powers
that be" for correction or consideration. As Administrator I do have the
power to handle a few problems, but many are handled on the RootsWeb and/or
Ancestry staff level.

If you would like an overview of what has been happening, one of the County
Board Administrators put up a very nice information page on her county site
explaining to her people what is going on with GenConnect "in a nutshell".
It is very clear, short and well presented. Even though this info page is
connected to the Cambria Co. PA page and does make reference to Cambria
Co., it's primary purpose is to address the issues going on in GenConnect.
It says it much better than anyone can rough out for you here. I feel it
will answer many questions.
The page is titled "Cambria County Pennsylvania Genealogy" Message Boards,
but the information address the changes going on in general on GenConnect.

If you wish to address any problems on the COGDELL, FRIZZELL or BRADBERRY
Message Boards please email me directly.
Sincerely, Cynthia Sims Kirkland
