Hi Reva,
Yes, I use facebook. I've sent you a friend invite this morning. I may have to get your phone number and ask my aunt to call you. I'll call her this morning and see if she's open to that. My Aunt Jerene, my Uncle John, and I visited Daisy, AR back in 1990 or so.. that was the last time I've been in AR.. unfortunately, I can't remember the names of the relatives we visited. Aunt Jerene passed a few years ago. We did visit Henry Cogburns resting place.
talk to you soon :)
Annette

Reva, My maiden name was Cogburn but I descend from a different tree limb than you (I think). I belive your Phillip Nathan Cogburn descended from Henry Cogburn. Ray Porter at Google: Cockburn Family Forum knows a lot about your ancestors.
I can help you with your e-mail sending problem. I had the same trouble after a recent update:
(1) log off and click "turn off computer"
(2) disconnect the cable from the back of your moden (the black box given you by the cable company);
(3) wait one minute
(4) Connect FIRST the cable to the modem (black box)
(5) Punch button that turns your computer back on.
I did this and could immediately send e-mails again and no problems since.
Good luck, Reva.

Annette,
I am so glad you got in touch with me. I am having trouble with my e-mail address. I can recieve messages, but can not send any out. But I can correspond on these web sites. I have many questions to ask you and wish you could ask your Aunt Kay some, also.
Do you use www.facebook.com ??? If you would go there and type in my name: Reva Cogburn Turner we could correspond more. I live at Newhope, Arkansas and went to school at Kirby High School. Please get in touch with me, either this way or through snail mail. I would like to know more about our Great Grandmother Mary Dalton.
Thanks,
Reva

Hi Reva,
I'm sorry, I haven't been on this site for years, and my email has changed. Bell was my great grandmother (I slightly remember visiting her in Arkansas when I was a child - she had horses and I remember her warning that one of them liked to bite! I was very very young) Bell had three children with Willis Whately: Louie (had one son), Jerene (had one son and one daughter), and Gracie Jewell. Jewell was my grandmother. Jewell had two girls: Linda Kay and Velva Joyce. Joyce was my Mom. (it seems everyone on my Mom's side went by their middle name, not their first name!) Recently, my Aunt Kay told me her grandmother (I think she meant Bell) was Cherokee. Do you know anything about the Cherokee connection? I will be happy to contact my aunt and ask her any questions you may have... I'm sure she remembers Bell and Bell's family.
thanks,
Annette

John Jackson Coggburn, b. 9 Feb. 1859, Taney Co., MO, d. 21 Feb. 1910, Boise, Idaho, migrated from Taney Co. abt. 1882 settling first in Malheur Co., Oregon. He probably came west with the Bostons, his in-laws. Abt. 4 yrs later his sister, Ruth "Janie" Coggburn Cramer (my g-g-grandmother), her husband William, & their family also came west, first settling near Vale, Malheur Co. Eventually the Jack Coggburn family, the Will Boston family & Cramers homesteaded on upper Squaw Creek in northern Gem County, Idaho.
There's quite a bit of info on this branch of Coggburns on-line in the White River Valley Historical Quarterly on http://thelibrary.springfield.missouri.org An article by Janice Looney traces the family back to Washington Co., Tenn.
"Ozark Pioneers. Voices of America" series. Arcadia Publishing, Chicago, IL. has additonal history.
A cousin Andy was killed in a Baldnobber confrontation at the Oak Grove Church in Taney Co.

One of the northern Arkansas Cogburns, James Cockburn, wife Elzada (lots of different spellings), Dora, was my gggrandfather. My Dad is Marshal, son of John Hamilton. To the Oregon Cogburn's: I have some cousins around Portland area, descendents of John Hamilton's brother, Jason, born 1881. Right offhand can't find a Theodore, but I've heard the name, think it was one of Jason's sons maybe. There are also Cogburn place-names down here in Klamath Falls, a Cogburn lived in Dorris CA south of here, passed away late 90's, and there were some over in Lakeview. The history of KFalls includes the "Cogburn brothers" who lived and worked in Dairy evidently, but I couldn't find anything else about them. Would love to explore this with you all sometime! By the by, my cousin, Alene Knight, daughter of my Aunt Lona Cogburn Robinson, passed away in Feb 2009. Any of her children (daughter's last name Jack) please feel free to contact me!
Sharon in KFalls OR
