Searching for the parents and any other siblings of James E. and Vincent. James was born in AL, May of 1853, and Vincent about 1859, but their father was born in SC, and their mother in GA. All this from the 1880 census. At that time James was living in Pine Apple, Wilcox Co., AL, and Vincent was living with him. By 1900, James was in Monroeville, Monroe County, AL. I suspect that Vincent and his wife (Theodosia Ernestine Knight) were staunch Baptists, as they named one son for a famous Baptist evangelist. James worked as a pharmacist in Pine Apple, but by 1900 had taken up farming for a livelyhood.

Have never been able to get beyond Grt GF William I. Cogburn b. in April 1872 in Arkansas; his father died before he was born and his mother Louisa Amanda White Cogburn remarried Adam F. Whisenhunt and they came to TX, first to Hunt Co and then settled in Taylor Co. Just a few days ago my grt aunt said "Papa had a lot of relatives in Cooke Co" which we had never heard before. Another grt aunt had said Wm had uncles by the name of Geo. & Andy; one of them or another came to see our Cogburns in Taylor Co while supposedly running from the law and were sent away. We have found that a Henry (have seen sources report his birth as both TN & SC) & Emmeline Margaret Johnson Cogburn had sons by the name of Geo & Andrew as well as a Wm b. TN 1851, which would be an appropriate date for our Wm's father. There seems to be descendant info on Henry's children, but not on Wm; could he have died young & our Wm named for his father? Is there anyone out there with family history and/or stories!
, etc, that can shed a clue on my Wm. Cogburn and his parents? Anything at all would be so appreciated. Thanks, Sandra

I read your message to Frank Cogburn posted October 2000. I lived in Las Cruces from 1953 until 1961. The Cogburns lived across the street from us on Salano Drive. Claude was living when we moved to Las Cruces and died of a heart attack sometime during the 50's. He was a heavy equipment operator and may have died on the job, I can't remember the details. Coy and I were close friends until I moved back to Louisiana in 1961. I have tried to find out where he or any of his family lives but have always run into a roadblock of some kind and have yet to locate him. I was a federal officer for over 25 years and retired in 1997. If you have and information about the whereabouts of any of the Cogburns, I would appreciate the information. Thanks
