I am looking for any info regarding this family. I'd especially like to be in
contact with any living descendants. The Coogan spelling is from the 1900
census, however, the same year, the spelling was Cogan in the Phila city
directory. So, it could be either way. The middle initial, E, is probably
Edward.

Nellie, daughter, b. April 1887, age 13, single, b. NY
John V., son, b. Sept 1888, age 11, single, b. NY
For 25 years I've been searching for my great grandfather, Frank J. He was
born 1882 in NY, moved to Phila, got married and had 2 kids and died in 1905.
Not alot of time to leave a trail behind him. Finding him has been
impossible. About 10 years ago, I found a Frank J. and a James E. COGAN
living at 1213 Potts in Phila - they were both bookbinders. The Frank J.
matched but he was young and I have a great uncle, an uncle, cousin, etc
named James E. I figured it was the right family but still I couldn't get any
further. I wrote myself a note about my find. I found that note the other
day. Today I posted to the Phila mailing list asking if the directories were
compiled after the census (I could not find the family on the census). As an
afterthought I included the info from the directory. Tonight I got an email
from someone I don't even know, who had seen my post. She did a search of the
city directory and found a family of COOGANs living on Potts. She then looked
them up in the census. Sure enough there was Frank and James and all the
other family members. Just goes to show that genealogists have GOT to be the
most helpful people on the face of the earth!
does anyone have this i need to have someone look something up
