Looking for information on John who was born 10 June 1914 in Kansas and died in Colorado 19 Feb 1996 and buried in Sunset Cemetery Manhattan, Ks. I have found his mothers name as Mary born abt 1880 but nothing about a father. Also, I think I found a sister Frances M Coffman McAvoy who died in 2006 in Cloverdale, Calif.
I would like to find his parents names and any info I can on his family.
Thanks
Jerry Coffman

I am trying to locate what Mary's name was before she married Charles and where she was from parents and where she died and is buried.
Charles is buried in Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas but can not find out if she is there also.
I believe she was born in Kansas abt 1894 but not sure,
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Wayne, for looking into this! You run the Kauffman/Coffman DNA project, don't you? My uncle's DNA is kit #N41261 and I have entered his data there. We do descend directly from Josiah Coffman of Gallia Co, OH.
Can you tell me something, please? My uncle's Y chromosome matches perfectly with a descendant of Reason Coffman, but that's the only perfect match. The Kauffman lines that are around ours -- not perfect matches, but close -- are those likely to be related lines or not?
Also, what did you mean when you said we may have hit line #3?
Thanks for doing this for all Kauffman/Coffmans.

Take a fling and see if joining the Kauffman/Coffman... surname project at FamilyTreeDNA.com may help identify a tested relative. We are slowly getting more small clusters identified since the number of tested Kauffman lines continues to grow.

It is to late now but it would have been nice to have the yDNA results transferred over the FamilyTreeDNA.com. We have a JNC cluster of results that has slowly grown over the last 5 years.
If needed take advantage of the upcoming holiday sale at FamilyTreeDNA.com and get your Coffman sample into FTDNA's system and part of the Kauffman surname project. That will give you access to the other matches for your sample.

>From a DNA testing perspective it looks like there could be several kauffman/Coffman lines which passed through Gallia County, OH. It is still early in the effort but I think we may have hit line #3. If you have access to a direct male descendant of Josiah Coffman then I would suggest testing at FamilyTreeDNA.com in the Kauffman surname project to see if the line matches with any of the other testers. Take advantage of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday sale to join the project.
In the Swiss Anabaptist databases there are 2 other Joseph's in the 1864-5 time frame listed but none are documented as being married to Isabella.
