kit 97339 at FamilyTreeDNA.com? But then there should be several living Edward M Coffman. :-)
Charles Fahs Kauffman's book sqaushed several lines into one. He assumed the Berne derived Kauffman's were the only colonial period Kaufman immigrants.
Contact me via the Kauffman surname project email link. We can more efficiently discuss the DNA results off-line.

Hi! We do have DNA information for my brother, Edward M. Coffman, whose lineage goes back to John G. Coffman and Henry Coffman in Harrison County, West Virginia. I agree there seem to be some separate lineages who went south, some west, and a few stayed in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We see a Coffman from England on the DNA but that is as far as it goes. WE think our Coffman are Palatine or could be Friends or Quakers but again just not sure.
John Goodin Coffman did have a brother Jesse, but I believe he was Jesse F. We have done much research with the Coffman/Kauffman book and surname. Our Coffmans seem to have changed their name quite soon after they arrived in the Americas, and we do not believe we are closely related to the Charles Fahs Kauffman lineage. Our family hasn't written down much either, or even attend a church that we can find in Harrison Cty.
We have our brick wall of Jacob Coffman, Henry's father, supposedly from Smithfield, Fayette County (previously Westmoreland County) Pennsylvania and are still trying to pick him out! If anyone has information for this Jacob we would like to see if we can get him located in PA. He probably was not the Immigrant, but rather his father or his grandfather even. Thanks!

Do you have any information on Elizabeth Gardner? Do you who her parents are? My Gardner family was in PA at this same time frame; they were Adam & Hellen (Mitchell) Gardner.
Thank you, Karen
