I am also interested in getting into contact with any male Coffman descendant of this particular family line. I would like to conclusively prove that they are my distant cousins via immigrant Jacob Kauffman. :-)

Earl Ray Hummel is my great gradfather. His 1st wife Lillie Ann Sievers is my great grandmother. Thier 1st bron child Geneva Mae Hummel is my grandmother. I am also working on the Hummel tree. So far I have been unable to find a marriage record for Earl Ray Hummel and Verna Ruby Coffman. He was married 5 times and I have the names of his other wives. My line comes through Earl & Lillie Sievers Hummel.

You should be able to get a Death Certificate from the MO Bureau of Vital Statistics, since you are his granddaughter, or request it in your Mom's name as his daughter...that will give you a lot of information as to who provided the info, where he is buried, etc. then contact the funeral home and cemetery office...there should be a Burial Permit which will then give you the name and address of the person who authorized the burial. If he died outside Cooper County, there should also be a Permit to Transport a Body across County or State(?) Lines. These may give you names of living people that you can contact. Sometimes, the preacher who performed the interment will be listed, and the Mortician will have any Published Obit.
Also, contact the County or City(?) offices to see if there is a Genealogical Society in Booneville...which I bet there is...

Thank you! Unfortunately its a different Aubrey Coffman; I've got confirmation that the one I'm looking for did in fact pass away in 1968 and is buried in Cooper County, MO. I've searched through many records already unfortunately. Something tells me I'll be hunting another Coffman line that hasn't been explored yet!

Hi Everyone,
I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for an Aubrey Coffman who passed away of a heart attack in the spring of 1968 around Marshfield, MO.
I've found one cemetery record in Peninsula Baptist Church and Cemetery with an A. Coffman grave with no dates that could be his. Unfortunately this is all I know. Aubrey was my mother's father who was ran off by my mother's mother when she was a baby and my mom never met him. She says that Aubrey had a brother that called the family to let them know of Aubrey's death, and they didn't have much money for a furneral and grave marker (hence, why I think the gravesite I found might be his). We're not even sure if he and my grandmother were ever married, but her name was R.V. Mitchell May and my mother is Ruth Joan Coffman - although she went by Annie Coffman - born 11/15/1947 in Ozark County, MO. My mom does vaguely recall that her mom mentioned they had just gotten back from a trip out to California just prior to my mother being born; so perhaps they visited family or got married there.
If anyone has more recent records that might be a fit, I would greatly apprecaite it! My mother now has cancer and we've lost everyone that may have remembered more details than just this.
Thanks!
Ashley Reed

Good Afternoon,
Well seems I'm a couple years late posting to this! I'm actually looking for a more recent Coffman, an Aubrey Coffman who is known to have passed away in the spring of 1968 from a heart attack (he was in his late 40's) outside of Marshfield, MO.
Interestingly, the grave marker I've found that my mother believes is accurate (Aubrey is her dad she never knew) resides next to a Eva Sampson Coffman grave marker, birth of 8/9/1924 and death of 8/9/1874. I can't find anything on Eva marrying a Coffman however, the last known census shows her married with four kids but still living with her parents (I believe it's the 1900 census).
Was Eli Stephen in your list a Coffman? I wonder if May Eva is the same. Have you been able to find out anything additional on this family line since you posted?
Thanks!
Ashley

Hi Sarah,
I just ran across this thread and saw you mentioned having a listing of Coffmans. I'm looking for a rare one - an Aubrey Coffman who died of a heart attack in the spring of 1968 around Marshall, MO. He would be my mother's father, who she never met (only heard of his death from his brother who contacted her mom - her mom apparently ran Aubrey off when she was a baby). I'm not even sure Aubrey and my grandmother were married, but her name was R.V. Mitchell May, and my mother is Ruth Joan Coffman, born 11/15/1947. Neither parent is listed on mom's birth certificate, and I can't find any death, marraige or census records that stick. I figured I'd start posting some information out here and see if I run across any long lost family!
Thanks!
Ashley

Good Afternoon, I apologize for the random e-mail, I saw your e-mails posted in a message board on ancestry.com that mentioned you've done research on the Coffman family lines. I know this a long shot trying to find him, but I thought I'd reach out just to see. My mom has cancer now, and so for both of us I was hoping to find the family line/history. Thank you for your time in reading this e-mail! Sincerely, Ashley Reed
