Hi Carol,
I am researching the Coffman family for my cousin, Marvin Grham. His grandmother was Mary Coffman, daughter of Robert Coffman and Amanda Delia Watkins. Mary Coffman married Jesse Calvin Graham, who were my cousin's grandparents. Robert's father was John Henry Coffman (if I have this straight!) We are searching for the Indian ancestry of Ferriby, but without any luck. Would be be able to help us?
Thanks,
Lorraine

After fifteen or so years I'm still searching for the parents of Michael Coffman, born abt 1816 probably in Tennessee. He married Mary Dilworth in Knox county, TN where they lived most of their life.
I would be grateful for any leads as to his parentage.
Some researchers have his parents listed as Michael Coffman & Margaret Drais, that are listed in the Kauffman-Coffman book but I have found no proof of this.
Would appreciate any help.

The book is available in snippet form on Google: http://books.google.com/books?id=iBlWAAAAMAAJ&q=Charles Fahs Kauffman&dq=Charles Fahs Kauffman&hl=en&ei=M8EoToHyOcq_gQfxk7mVCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAA
Full title and sub-title is "A genealogy and history of the Kauffman-Coffman families of North America, 1584 to 1937:
including brief outlines of allied Swiss and Palatine families who were among the pioneer settlers in Lancaster and York counties of Pennsylvania from 1717 on; viz., Becker, Baer, Correll, Erisman, Fahs, Kuntz, Kneisley, Hershey, Hiestand, Meyers, Musselman, Neff, Martin, Ruby, Snavely, Shenk, Shirk, Sprenkle, Witmer, and others"
I'm researching Abraham Coffman (Cofman), the one who died in Hardin County, KY in 1849. After 12 years, I'm still no further in finding out his parentage. I went through this book searching for every Abraham, any spelling and created a page to assist -- http://www.ancestors-genealogy.com/coffmanpeach/AbrahamsFromCharlesFKauff...
This Abraham has been so elusive -- I've compiled info about his family here: http://www.ancestors-genealogy.com/coffmanpeach/AbrahamCoffmanCI.shtml.

It is an extremely time-consuming journey to collect informtion about your family, so I wanted to share some tips I got during a publishing workshop. There is a service called LuLu.com which publishes your family history books in color or B & W with photos and will accept several different formats. You choose the book size, the cover, etc. I managed to publish my Coffman book with a color cover, paperback, 8 1/2 by 11 size, 99 pages including the index of names, for $7.98; anyone who wishes to purchase a book can go directly to LULU.com to buy it, so there is no minimum amount of books to purchase when you first publish. My book turned out beautifully and many members of the family purchased one through Lulu. Lulu also listed my book on Amazon at no charge to me although they do not do that for every book. I have published three additional books since then through Lulu, including a family cookbook listing favorite recipes of relatives through the ages with pictures of the re!
lative. This is a really nice genealogical gift to give to any member of the family and has been deeply appreciated. I hope this info helps more people publish their genealogical research and, yes, you have the ability to continually update your book. I name and date the editions so that relatives will understand why their books are a little different.

You are correct. We were discussing David Coffman(Cofman) and his offspring.
Incidentally, neither the DAR nor the SAR recognize him with the Harmon second-name. In fact the Will of David Coffman of Limestone County AL which was probated in 1835 lists his children (Heirs) and his son David, (Jr.) is not listed with the name Harmon, either.

There is more than one Harmon Coffman who lived at approximately the same time. I believe the one you are discussing is David Harmon Coffman.
My great-great-grandfather was Richard Harmon Coffman (b. 1802 in VA and d. 15-Feb-1880 in Grundy County, MO). His father was Abraham Coffman (Cofman) who was b. in VA about 1764 and died in Hardin County, KY on 8-Sep-1849. His wife was Margaret Ann Triplett. She might have been his second wife. I've been researching this for almost 13 years.
These two Harmon's are often mixed up in research since many of the children and ancestor names are the same. I suspect they are related but have no proof. But they are definitely different individuals. I have more info about my research site: http://www.ancestors-genealogy.com/coffmanpeach/
Anyone having information on 'my' Harmon or 'Abraham', contact me at idogenealogy(a)yahoo.com

I have the lineage from Johan Andrus Kauffman to my Grandmother Nona Coffman, b1884 in Red River County TX. David Coffman is my gggg-grandfather and I have an Approved SAR Supplemental on him.
If you have the lineage of Nancy Walker (1779-1860 ) who married David's second son, Jacob Coffman, in Jefferson County TN in 1799, I would like to have it. I believe that she descends from John Walker (1732-1794) of Goochland County VA, but just not sure which son is her father.

Can someone solve this one. I have relatives who are said to be buried
in Oak Grove Cemetery in Limestone Co., AL. Then from Salt Lake Family
History Library from a book: Limestone Co., Cemeteries, Vol. 1 The same
couple is listed in Good Springs Cemetery. on p. 38. (Coffman, Lela G.
and John A.) . Are these cemeteries one and the same? I entered the
data on roots web in Oak Grove Cemetery, but now want to know which
cemetery is correct. Help!

My Coffman ancestor is Joseph Kauffman of Pennsylvania in the 1790 census. His descendants appear to have migrated slowly up the Ohio River, ending up near Champagne, IL. Anyone on here from that branch of Coffmans? Also, I'd love to know if anyone can identify where Joseph Kauffman or his ancestors came from.

I think we just might have some sort of connection going on here.
My ancestor was James Pierce Phillips b. 12 Aug 1811 VA or NC. I have documents that he was co-administrator with Anna Coffman for the estate of her husband Conrad Coffman. I have been tryng to find out who Anna Coffman was and how she fit in the picture with my James Pierce Philips.
