Rebecca Coffman who married William Walker was the d/o David & Mary Ann. She was younger than Jacob who married Nancy Walker in 1799 in Jefferson Co TN. Jacob was born 1777, and Nancy Walker was born 1779, both in VA.
What I need is to find a listing of the heirs of David Walker and John Walker...sons of John Walker who died in 1794 in Goochland VA.

The 1794 Will of John Walker in Goochland Co. VA lists three sons; James, John, & David.
Since James' Will of 1801 in Jefferson Co. TN does not name Nancy as a daughter, I suppose she might belong to either John(ii) or David. She was married to Jacob Coffman in James' house in 1799. She was about 20 years old.
Would you have any indication as to who she belongs to??
What is the full Title of the book, so I can find it close to home??
On one of these prior postings I pasted a photo of the Coffman home with Sign in front, near Russellville TN...I have been there.

Was that book Lure and Lore of Limestone County??? I had that book but I did not find any photos of Coffman's, just a log cabin that was moved somewhere else.
There is something that puzzles me...it says David's wife was Ann Hurley...First (and last) time I had ever seen that name.
I contacted the Limestone County Historical Society (Publisher) who called me back and said that the two ladies who put the book together have passed, and no one knows where they got the info.
If someone can prove that, then there is a whole new twist.

I have been looking all over for ANYONE that might have info or pictures of these 2 people who are my great grandparents.
I am sure they were living in the Manhattan Kansas area when they died but unable to find a date or where they are buried.
One of their sons was Walter David Coffman of Manhattan Kansas who was my grandfather and was born in Oct 1880 married to Amanda Hanson born 1882.
ANY info or pictures would be appreciated
Thanks

Message Board Post:
As documented by the DAR & SAR, David Coffman was born ca1750, probably in PA and migrated to VA where he served in the Montgomery County Militia during the American Revolutionary War under Capt. Thomas Ingles.(See VMR p227). For his service, he received a Land Grant.(North Carolina Land Grant Book 65 P452 Warrant #331 Grant #278 in 1783.)
About 1774 in VA, he married Mary Ann Lovell, d/o of Robert Lovell and Sarah Marshall, who was b ca1753(See Southern Historical Families Vol 1, p222-223; The Marshall Family, p17.)
David migrated to East TN into what is now Hamblen County and built a large home, which is still standing and occupied. He willed that home to his son Andrew. David's Will was probated in Limestone County AL on 31 March 1835 so he died before that. The Will was written 12 July 1833 and no wife is mentioned, therefore Mary Ann was already dead, else she would have had some claim to his property.
A burial site has not been found in AL, but it is claimed that David is buried in the Legg Cemetery in Giles County, TN which is just across the State line from Limestone County AL. Leggs were sons-in-law of David.
Any 'Elizabeth' who died in 1860 would have been well over 100 years old and highly unlikely to have been David's wife. His second son, Jacob and wife, Nancy were living in Cherokee County AL when the 1860 Census was taken but listed as "infirm" meaning they could not care for themselves but lived with their two Spinster daughters who are also on the Census.
David's son Andrew was a Primitive Baptist Preacher in East TN, and lived in the old Coffman home, just East of Russellville TN.

No, this Andrew was married to Elizabeth Kincaid Ramsey. I do not have the Kaufmann/Coffman book available at the moment. He is listed in the book as a descendant of Andrew, I believe. I have not researched this family in PA.

Hi Jerry,
Do you know if a documented descendant of your Kauffman/Coffman line has participated in the Kauffman/Coffman DNA Project?
I am a descendant of Andrew and Elizabeth Coffman through their daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) married to George Millikan. They were located in Hamblen County, TN.
