According to the Will, Lovell(i), Jacob, William, Andrew, David jr, and Markham Marshall were his sons.
I can send you Record Copies of a couple of approved DAR and SAR Applications which give a lot of dates, places, etc. Also certified copy of the Will, but they are PDF files and these Message boards won't accept them...need an e-mail address to send directly to you.
Gerry

Gerry is right on!
I am descended from David Harmon Coffman and his son David Harmon Coffman Jr. They both died in Alabama.
David H Sr was listed in some E TN court papers as Harmon Coffman.
David Sr was the son of John Kauffman/Koffman/Coffman he was a half brother to my maternal ancestor Daniel Koffman son of John. John was the son of Andreas Kauffman of Lancaster ,PA.There is a great book on the Coffman/Kauffman/Koffman family written by Charles Fahs Kaufman. It is available in a reprint from the Mennonite Historical Society in Lancaster,PA. They are a great source for all thing Mennonite.
They lived in Rockingham VA before coming into E TN. They settled in Dandridge and records can be found in Jonesboro,TN as well as Jefferson county TN. Greene.Jefferson counties as well as Wahgintton county all morphed into one another early in the 1800's as boundaries changed with settlement and the times.

David Coffman b ca1751 is thought to be one and the same as David Harmon Coffman but both the DAR and SAR do not recognize the Harmon name as 'proven.' Albeit some claims have been made otherwise, his wife was Mary Ann Lovell (b 1753) daughter of Robert Lovell (iii) and Sarah Marshall (Reference HISTORICAL SOUTHERN FAMILIES Vol I by John Boddie, pg 223). Mary Ann's older half-sister was Elizabeth Lovell per Pg 222.
David is thought to have been born in Lancaster County PA but served in the Militia of Montgomery County VA under Capt Thomas Ingles(VMR p227). This Militia company was part of a regiment commanded by Col. Thomas Marshall, brother of David's mother-in-law Sarah (Marshall) Lovell.
David migrated after the War to NC then East TN and ultimately to Limestone County AL where his Will was written in 1833 and probated in 1835. It lists his Children and some of his grandchildren whose parent was deceased.
That Will is posted elsewhere on this Message Board but can be obtained if you send me an e-mail address...
David's second son, Jacob Maryon Coffman(b1777) is my ggg-grandfather. He was born in Fauquier County VA. David' son David (ii) mentioned in the Will was born in TN in 1791 per SAR & DAR records.

Wow how awesome is that?? I have traced back to a David Coffman born 1803 but seem to have hit a wall. Do you know the siblings of David Harmon Coffman? My David was born I'n Virginia and it looked like your tree is Texas? Was hoping that maybe they both came from Viginia and went different ways. Thanks for any information
Bryan

Geographically and time wise this coincides with part of the Michael Kauffman line being present in Page County, VA and also trying to homestead at a site now called Mannheim ( 4713 Wengers Mill Road, Linville, Va 22834).
In cases like this the best thing to do is to find a current Coffman descendant and have them tested at FamilyTreeDNA.com as part of the Coffman/Kauffman surname project. A "good" result will provide a link to the immigrant Amish/Mennonite lineage.
