Thanks for the rundown. I made a chart for my brothers, because my sisters did not share with them. Now, my oldest brother is annoyed with me; because my chart doesn't agree with what he has. Actually, I asked for his help before the chart was completed. He swore his records were destroyed in a fire, but miraculously appeared after the chart was made. I know my early Coffman records weren't correct and had warned both brothers. The younger one was thrilled to even receive what I copied. You learn in a hurry, who will help and who impedes progress. I do thank you for your input. You are great. Iris

I descend from Martin Kaufman and Sarah Whitehouse, married in Linville, VA. They moved to Ohio and their son, Noah Whitehouse Coffman, became a minister in the Church of the Brethren. I would like to find his marriage record to Rhoda Williams/Willison, whatever it is. My grandmother, Lucy Alice Coffman Ramey, couldnt remember for sure what her grandmother Rhoda's maiden name was. Did you happen to run across them in Ohio? thank you, Iris

Thank you so much Iris for the kind words. I really hope to get the time to add a lot more info to the Coffman research. There is a whole group of Coffman's that have a LOT of data written about them -- unfortunately, they aren't MY Coffman's. So as I research and find tidbits, I hope to make those available to others as well.
This was just one of many that are planned.

Robert was born on Sept. 15, 1937, to Clemens D. and Mary Reid Coffman. A gentle man known for his endurance, strength and patience, Robert operated Coffman Farms Inc. with his sons and help from his brothers. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1954, being very active in FFA and 4-H. He served Warren Township for 24 years as a trustee and was a member of the Ohio Township Association. He was a sixth generation Coffman to work the farm which was recognized in 1995 as a regional winner in the Ohio Outstanding Century Farms and also won the Goodyear Award for good stewardship. The farm was also recognized by the Chamber of Commerce as an agricultural award winner. Robert worked hard, but found some time to pull tractors and play softball.

He is also survived by his pride and joys, Zachary, Brittany, Jacob, Alexis, Katlyn, Seth, Faith, Garett and Reid. Also, a sister, Dr. Ruth Coffman Garrett, brothers, Ralph (Dorothy) and Hugh (Betty) Coffman, and some very special nephews survive.

I've found that too. I don't have much info on Matilda COFFMAN. Born about 1804 -- and died after 26 Aug 1849.
Married Sanford L Triplett who was born 1796 in Loudoun, VA and died before 26 Aug 1849. They were married 14- Sep 1822 in Hardin County, KY.
I've found four children from their marriage:
- Louisa Jane TRIPLETT (b 1823)
- Sanford L TRIPLETT (b 1825)
- James TRIPLT (b 1828)
_ Margaret Elizabeth TRIPLETT (b 1830).
Triplett (Margaret's hubby) parents were Frederick (1770-1853) and Sebina JENKINS (b after 1770; died 1856).
However, I don't have any data on his siblings -- Margaret might be a cousin????

I agree -- the will does not mention her maiden name. I also have a copy of the original image for the will. Abraham signed with his mark. I know I have somewhere in my data an entry that is a document (not just an email or message board post) where she was listed as Margaret Ann Triplett.
Unforunately real life right now is totally interfering in genealogy research. I hope to swim out of that situation within the next couple of months.

This is what I have for Abraham Coffman will -- do you have something different? I do not see the name Triplett...
Abraham Coffman Will - 26 August 1849
In the name of God, Amen. I, Abraham COFFMAN of the County of Hardin and State of Ky., being weak and infirm in body, but of a sound and disposing mind and memory, and calling to mind that it is appointed to all men once die, do make, ordain and establish this my last will and testament. In Confirmation, whereof, I command my soul to the Almighty God, who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executors, hereafter to be appointed. And as to the worldly estate that it hath pleased God to bless me with (after my funeral expences and all my just debts are paid), I give, devise and bequeath in the following manner, to wit:
I give to my kind and loving wife, Margaret COFFMAN, all the tract or parcel of land whereon I now live, together with all the household and kitchen furniture, farming utensials, grain and live stock, during her natural life. And after her decease, my further will is that all my estate, both real and personal, be sold on a credit of twelve months, taking bonds and a good security for the purchase money and when the proceeds of my whole estate is collected, it is to be equally divided between my children,
Namely; Mary SCIFERS, Ax. MILLER, Richard Harman COFFMAN, John COFFMAN, Matilda MCGOVERN, Moses COFFMAN and to Margaret Ann COFFMAN, Henry Pendleton COFFMAN and Abraham COFFMAN, Heirs of my son, Aaron COFFMAN, deceased, his equal share divided equally between them. And to my daughters Bethana MORGAN, Lydia CLARK, Sucrecia KENDALL, Eliza Ann ATCHER and Alfred Thomas COFFMAN.
It is, further, directed by me that if my wife, Margaret COFFMAN, shall deem it necessary to reduce the stock for her necessary purposes, she may do so by selling a part on such credits as she may think best and apply the proceeds to any necessary purposes that she may stand in need of. With an intent and for the purpose of carrying into effect this my will and testament, I constitute and appoint my wife, Margaret COFFMAN and John MORRIS, Executrix and Executor of this my last and only will, hereby revoking and declaring all other wills heretofore by me made null and void. And in the presence of these subscribing witnesses, ratify, confirm and pronounce this my last and only will. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set hand and fixed my seal this 26th day of August, 1849.

At a County Court began and held for Hardin County at the Courthouse in Elizabethtown on Monday the 8th day of October, 1849, the foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Abraham COFFMAN, deceased, was produced in court and proven in due form of law by the oaths of James W. NALL & John S. HOBBS, two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, to be the true last will and testament of Abraham COFFMAN, deceased, and the same being examined by the court was established and ordered to be recorded.
Whereupon I have truly recorded the same in my office this 31st day of October, 1849.

Yes -- I have that data too but I don't find any true "source" for this. There is an "Abraham Coffman" who married a "Margaret Howey" ... but Abraham Coffman's will clearly states that his wife was "Margaret Ann Triplett".
So one of the things that is a "potential possibility" is that he was married to both. And it was he and Margaret Howey who migrated from Virginia to Kentucky. Then she died (probably in childbirth) and he married "Margaret Ann Triplett".
That would explain why there aren't any Triplett's in VA in the region belived to be the area he came from. And there are a lot of Triplett's in Kentucky Hardin County area.
But I also have been completely unable to find a Triplett who was her father. I've even researched ever male Triplett to see if the "Triplett" was her first marriage. So far no proof there either.
Hopefully you'll have some info I don't have.
Thanks!!!
