I recently spent a day in the Lumberport, WV area around Robinson Run looking for the Old Coffman Family Cemetery. My 87-yr-old Rogers cousin (George Ferdinand 'Ferd" Rogers) drove me to the area and a fellow from the property owner's coal company drove us up the mountainside to the cemetery which no one I know has visited for many years . It is surrounded by an old block fence and has several (ca 10) old gravestones there, most of which are unreadable except for the "Coffman" name on them. One of the tombstones belongs to my 3rd Great Grandfather Henry Coffman of Harrison Co., WV and it reads precisely as follows:
''Henry Coffman, died Nov 12, 1862, aged about 77 yrs.''
Yes, this definitely is our ancestor from Smithfield, PA, the son of Jacob Coffman (b. ca 1749). I believe that Henry's wife, Elizabeth (Robinson) Coffman, d/o Benjamin, is buried beside Henry Coffman, but the heavy brush didn't allow me to determine that yet. I asked a man I know there to find someone to clean off the cemetery this summer and I hope to return to West Virginia later to try to read the info inscribed on the other gravestones. I'm hoping that other Coffman descendants also will want to visit the Old Coffman Cemetery this summer, so please let me know if you do.
For the descendants of Henry Coffman's son, John G. Coffman & wife Achsah, they have a very large monument there with very readable info inscribed. There is another stone nearby for Benjamin F. Coffman (1841-1902) who is the s/o John G. Coffman & Achsah. Probably other members of this family also are interred there. I have photos of the three most readable tombstones I've mentioned in this message if any descendant is interested in copies for their files.

In the 1850 Boone County, KY census there is an Eliza J Kaufman (age 16) from KY listed with parents Jacob (age 53) from Virginia and Sarah (age 52) from NC. On the next sheet of the census Granville Swift is listed. He's 25 and from Indiana. The database shows Granville Smith but if you look at the census copy it says Swift.
There are other Kaufmans listed in the 1850 census. (Isaac and Nancy) and their children.
In the 1860 census Isaac and Nancy are in Edinburgh, IN and their last name is spelled Coffman. (I know it's them because the childrens' names match.
I'm betting that Jacob and Sarah are Eliza Jane's parents. There's a Jacob and Sarah Coffman in Edinburg, IN in 1860, too.
I'm curious about Granville Swift being from Indiana. I wonder if he was in Indiana before going to Kentucky?
