I am seeking any information on John F Coffman who served, in the civil war, with company E of the 16th IL Infantry and was listed from Brown County IL.. This same John F. Coffman may have been living in Beason IL 1870 and somehow related to Otis Burton Coffman born in Beason, 1870. Any information, no matter what, would be appreciated. thank you bill lansaw

I'm still working on these Coffmans:
Jacob Coffman abt 1824 m Nancy Massie dau of Jeptha Massie and Anne Meadows on Nov 1, 1848 in Lawrence Co Ohio, documented. Who Are Jacob's parents???
Jacob's son Henry H Coffman b 18 Dec 1853 Lawrence Co Oh
m #1? Nancy Ellen Sharp Jan 1875 Lawrence Co. Ohio this is documented.
Known children
Jacob ca 1875
Mary Ellen ca 1879 m ? Stevens
m #2? Mary (Eliza) Sickles 18 Sept 1891. His obit says they were married in Lawrence Co. Ohio and that she was Mrs Mary Sickles but so far I find no documentation to support this. As Mary Ellen above was born in Jackson Co and Henry and Eliza spent most of their life in Jackson Co. I think they may have been married there as well.
Known Children all born in Jackson Co Ohio
Bertha Jane b 15 Sep 1891 m Israel Baer
James W b 29 Jul 1893 m 1. Ethel Aleshire
Stella May b 11 Oct 1895 m Fred Yerian
Sarah b 18 Jul 1898 m 1. ? Triago 2. ? Seals
3. Henry Bennett
John E. b 29 Aug 1900 m L Bennett
Willard b 23 Aug 1902 m Evelyn ?
Charles b 28 Dec 1904
Iva Myrtle b 19 Jan 1907 m 1. Pearly Carter?
2. ? Shields 3. ? Wells
Harlan b 16 Nov 1908
Ethel M b 26 Jul 1911 m. Floyd Stiffler
Hazel b 1915 m ? Seacrist
Three common mistakes I keep finding on the internet are:
1. Henry H is listed as Henry Harlan Coffman. His name was Henry Harrison Coffman b 18 Dec 1853 d 15 Nov 1940 2. Ethel Matilda "Dollie" Coffman is given the birth year of 1899. I have both birth and death certificates showing she was born in 1911. She and Floyd Stiffler were my g-parents.
3. Ethel married William Kyle in 1926. I believe this to be Ethel Aleshire Coffman b 1899 ex-wife of James W Coffman.
If this is your line, I would be glad to share info.

Hello,
On your website you had:
"Abraham Coffman - I used to believe that "my" Abraham was the one married to Margaret Howey (or Hawn). It is definitely not the Abraham was was married to Ann Thursby. Research of 2004 revealed that "my" Abraham was married to Margaret Triplett."
This is my great, great (maybe another great) grandparents. Both are buried outside of E-town in a small church cementary outside of Boston, KY (which is in Hardin County). There are two Abraham Coffmans buried in this cementary, both are my grandparents and I believe my dad told me that Abraham was the son of the oldest Abraham (the one married to Tripplett).
Also my great aunt "Mag" was named after Margaret Triplett. Most, if not all, of my uncle's and aunts were born in Hardin County or nearby area.
Thought you might be interested.
