Hi Bill, I do have a William in my own ancestor's line we never have found
where he ran off to. He was Born in 1858 in Missouri and things in the civil
war were very bad in the area just north of Springfield Mo. and lots of
family's were destroyed. William's sister Mary A made it to family in Polk
county Mo, his mother: we have never heard a bit about her and she may of
been killed, It was rumored that William ending up going with a family ito
Ill. to work and live, and father made it out of the area to Texas to marry
again 6 years later. Have you found any Census on your John like in 1870
and 1890?? I don't right now know how to prove this William to be yours or
not. And Another thing, I'm asking you to turn this e-mail around and send
it to the <COFFMAN-L(a)rootsweb.com> The whole point of me doing this work on
the Brick walls is to get the Coffman list moving with E-mails, and if I
find we have your William I certainly want all others to know as I would
suspect that others are looking for this William also, including me. Cheers
Carl

Dear Ellen, I need more info on your line. If (I had to completely guess)
right now I'de have to say his father name might be Jacob, only a very early
guess you see. I've seen these names before but
haven't ever worked the line yet, but think there may be Jewish blood in the
line. Which is an honor, and I have some in my Kauffman line in Texas, and
they were needing in the worse to get out of Europe to William Penn state.
The things in way of info I need is Abraham marriage/marriages info,
like: where, when, who again? (all) Any and all children names, places and
dates. Do only of the below children seem possible in being any of his
children ? I sure do see your brick wall now, and have to believe something
is missing in the info. Regards Carl

Hi Carl,
Let's give this a try:
My Abraham Coffman was born in Virginia in 1763. He married Margaret Ann
Triplett. This is not the Abraham Coffman who married Margaret Hawn! Margaret
Ann's maiden name is listed as Triplett on the death of a couple of their
children. This is the Abraham who died in Hardin County, Kentucky. He did not
move to and from Illinois as far as I can tell but stayed in Hardin County,
Kentucky per census records.
Who were his father and mother? I am having trouble connecting to the
Virgina family.
Thanks,
Martha Ellen Coffman Gammons
Robert James COFFMAN. Born on 30 May 1864 in Shelby, Illinois. Robert James
died in Ridge, Shelby, Illinois on 21 Feb 1947; he was 82. Buried on 23 Feb
1947 in Antioch Cemetery, Ridge, Shelby, Illinois.
On 30 Dec 1885 when Robert James was 21, he married Mary Ellen REEDER,
daughter of Isaac N. REEDER & Maria HELMS, in Shelbyville, Shelby, Illinois.
Born on 18 Mar 1862 in Ridge, Shelby, Illinois. Mary Ellen died in Okaw,
Shelby, Illinois on 11 Aug 1935; she was 73.
They had one child:

Dear Edna, I have a Coffman line in Andrew/Nodaway/Clay/Clinton
Counties that is also a brick wall. This line is decended from Jacob
Coffman who died in Franklin Co, KY in 1792. His daughter Nellie
Coffman Jr b1780 settled with her 5 known children in Clinton/Clay
Counties in 1828. All her children had the surname Coffman but Nellie
never had a husband we could find, but there were never any bonds of
bastardy for her children either. I and other researchers have looked
for years for an answer to this dilemma. One researcher thought that
the James Coffman listed in records of Clay/Clinton Counties in 1842
was her husband, but we think it is her son, James R Coffman b.1820.
Her other son Samuel Coffman settled in Andrew and Nodaway Counties
after 1850. Her daughters were Matilda Coffman b.1802 who married John
Franklin Cox and lived in Andrew Co and her daugher Delilah Coffman
b.1801 who married William F Franklin and lived in Clay/Clinton
Counties. Her other daughter Margaret Coffman b.c.1810 married Hiram
Smith. She died before 1850 and he remarried and took her children to
CA about the same time. I always wondered if Nellie's husband also had
the last name of Coffman and if he was connected with Daniel's line.
Can anybody help?

Hi Coffman List, Michele Brown, And Denver Gal. SEE List!! Look-ie here!!!!
I was all over Texas looking for Coffmans in the records in Johnson, Ward,
San Saba, last week, and if you get a Texas map and look where these 3
county are in relationship to Wichita, you will see it was a far piece. At
any rate one of the ones I asked the list about was when I got back was on
WM Coffman and a marriage, and read below the hit that that had for someone
on the list!!!<Happy> Tell you all what, I have a dare, Six of you put your
Brick wall info, and all the dates and places your people were, and anything
else that you know about them, I promise I will at lease solve 1 or more
of the six for you all. After all that's what's good about joined force's
that a list can do. Got to tell you not using your list is one giant
mistake. Your question is to yourself is do you want to be the one or more
out of the six that's get their brick wall torn down? I have over 15 Coffman
separate lines in my mind as I write. I save bit and pieces and find where
the info belong, and given a name, date, and place I know exactly where to
send you to a researcher within your line. I do a lot of searching and i've
come miles since I started 5 years ago, and My Coffman Ancestors Chart is
finished. So it well work. Just take my Dare, and 6 of you get on the list
and start writing. Ask Denver gal, she knew me when I started out and she
will tell you I mean business, and can do it, I believe. And Denver Gal
Brown you will need to write <MACOFFMAN(a)aol.com> about WM Coffman as I don't
have your up to date e-mail. And I want to buy one of your book. Regards
Zella & Dad

Thanks Linda, Of course I get regular e-mails and can send anywhere to any
boxes, but the problem lays in "not getting mail from the Coffman-L mailing
list". But as you see, as you got the help message today on Coffman-L, that
I can send to Coffman-L. Thanks for the help, and hope you can fix it.
Regards Carl
Carl -- please let me know if you receive this email.
