Thanks very much, Michelle, for this interesting information on our unknown
William Coffman. I presume there wasn't a follow-up obituary that named his
wife, kids, or parents?

Hi Jerry
I would love a copy of the photo. I don't know if he would be related to me
or not. I can't seem to get back past my great grandfather, John A. Coffman.
All I know of him is a census said he was born in MO and I know he was
married to Sarah E. McCann who was 1/2 Choctaw. I have a little bit of
information on her and their children from that census and the Dawes Roll.
John and Sarah are buried in Addington Cemetery, Addington, Jefferson Co.,
Ok. Their son, Melvin Coffman was my grandfather and my father, John Harvey
Coffman, born in Addington in 1918.There are gazillions of John Coffmans.

A friend snapped an interesting photo in Boot Hill at Ogallala, NE several
years ago. It shows the following name and year carved on a post:
WM. COFFMAN SHOT 1875
If anyone thinks this man might be a relative, please let me know and I'll
e-mail a copy of the photo to you. As far as I know, he isn't a relative of
mine, although we have lots of men named "William." My line is: John Guy
Coffman, Jedediah Waldo Coffman (Braxton Co., WV), William E. Coffman,
Benjamin R. Coffman (Harrison Co., WV), Henry Coffman, Jacob Coffman
(Smithfield area of Pennsylvania).
