First of all I want to Thank you so much to keep looking for me. I do not have access to any census unless they are free. I also found some information from Nebraska City census of 1880. The info I have is I pretty sure on Caroline Coffman. It has her down as Carrie Kaufman being 45 years old and born in Kentucky. George Coffman must have died before that because all there is listed is one son named Samuel Coffman age 17 born in Missouri which is the same . It says mothers birth place being in Kentucky and fathers birth place in Ohio. Also it listed that Caroline or Carrie's parents birth place being Virginia.
I also have in Nebraska City cementery two Coffmans buried there but no first name. One was a female which I am think it might be Caroline died Dec. 12, 1897 but it has down her age being 73 when she died which don't match with Caroline's age with 1880 census. Also there is anothe Coffman died April 20, 1880 which might be her husband, but has no name or what sex on it. Does this help any? Thanks again for helping me. Ruth

I think I found Caroline in the 1850 census living in Lake, Buchanan Co, MO(see p86 and 87). She is living in a hugh family and her age is given in 1850 as 26. I think she lied about her age in 1870. Her father is a John Holman b.c.1790 in VA. This family is found once in the family trees on this site. Still haven't found anything on a George Coffman yet.

After doing a bit more research, i realized there is a connection between the Holmans of Andrew and Clay Co, MO and the Estes family of Clay Co, which included a Coffman marriage from MY line. Caroline Holman is named in a suit in 1858 to settle the estate of Littleberry Estes. She was found to be out of state and could not be summoned. I also found a marriage for a Caroline Scot Haleman to George Coffman 11/13/1851 in Andrew Co, MO. The Holman family of Clay Co, MO seems to be connected with the Holman family of Woodford Co, KY. Since Caroline was born in KY in 1835 or so, we need to find one of the Holman families that was still in KY at that time. Also married in Andrew Co, MO about the same time were Nancy J Holman to Jacob M Sharp 2/8/1855 and James M Holman to Sarah Ann Nove on 12/13/1849. These might be her siblings. I still have no idea who George Coffman is at this time.

Hi list administrators,
For those administrators with lists that are on LISTS5, my thanks for
bearing with us while we have been repatriating mailing lists, and
been through the involved process of rebuilding digests. The disk
failure and replacement did a bit of nasty damage to the digests that
has resulted in some major recovery work.
Over the next while, we will be putting previously sent mail through
the digests. This is to ensure that the searchable archives at
http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/ are complete, though we will have
to recycle mail back to 29 October. After that we will be turning
mail back on and the queued mail from the past days will be delivered
to the server and lists.
All that mail that you have been missing and wanting will be
arriving, hopefully in a steady continuous stream.
When you finally come to know the truth
through your own forgiveness,
you will engender energies that extend from you
to recognize that you and I are the same.

After doing a bit of research, based on the information you gave me, I can find no relationship between my Coffman family, the Daniel Coffman family from TN and your Coffman family. In the 1870 census of Nebraska City there is a G. Coffman age 67 from VA as head of your family. C. female age 35 from KY must be Caroline. E age 14 Elijah, G age 12 George and S age 10 Samuel. I don't know if the G. Coffman, presumably George age 67 is the boys' father or grandfather. I cannot find this person in any other census anywhere. There is a George W Coffman age 56 from VA in Duck Creek, Stoddard Co, MO in 1860 with a wife Lucinda and 7 children. As far as land records go, I find nothing for a George Coffman at the time he would have been in Andrew Co, MO. The G. Coffman appears to be a very poor day laborer who might have moved around a lot trying to find work. His value in 1870 was $100. In the 1870 census there were also two other young individuals with surnames of Woods an!
d Moore of unknown relationship. I tried several online sources to find this G. Coffman age 67 from VA anywhere in the census records, marriage records, etc. with no avail. There are IGI reference to a George Coffman born about 1802 from Shennandoah Co, VA. Other than that I haven't got a clue about your Coffmans. Good luck. You are going to need it.

I honestly don't know if the information you have connects. All I have is from newspaper clippings and they are that George Coffman married Caroline Holman no date. They came to Nebraska City with at least three sons around 1865. My Greatgrandfather was born July 17, 1854 or 58 in Madison County, Missouri. He died April 15, 1940 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. His brother George Coffman was born Sept. 15, 1861 in Andrew County, Missouri and died March 7, 1930 in Nebraska City, Nebr. Another brother Samuel Coffman was born around 1962-64 in Fillmore County, Missouri and died Dec.17, 1935 in Nebraska City, Nebr.
I have no information on their parents except names.

I have several Coffmans from Andrew, Clinton, Clay, and Nodaway Counties in MO. I have a Walter George Holman that married a Willa Jane Riley 11/13/1845 in Clinton Co, MO. Any relationship to Caroline Holman? Is she the Caroline Holman age 9 in the 1850 census, daughter of Joseph Holman in Clay Co, MO? Do you have any date of birth for George Coffman and place of birth? I have four George Coffmans, but none seem to be the age similar to Caroline. There were two Coffman families in Andrew County. One family is descended from Jacob Coffman who died in 1792 in Franklin Co, KY and the other is from a Daniel Coffman, whose relationship to the other Coffman family is unclear at this time.

Hello. I'm also looking for anything on this Coffman, my great grandmother. She's listed in the 1880 cenus in Arkansas too and was less than a year old at that time.
She married Conrad E. Cummings - who also has been listed as Elmo C. Cummings.
Many thanks.

Hello. I'm looking for any information on Elbert H. Coffman, my great-great-great grandfather. Preliminary census records from 1880 have him living in Arkansas; he was born in Georgia. He married Elizabeth Wilson according to previous research, but this 1880 census has him married to a Leona?
Many thanks for any help!
Dear Carl...

The server LISTS5 is off-line with respect to sending and
distributing mail, and it will be so **at least** for another couple
of days. All other list servers are operating normally.
The basic story is that the server had had a hard disk problem
earlier in the week, and when the disk was recovered by the system
administrators, something else was broken and there followed a chain
reaction that I was unable to stop until I got online later in the
day. It will take a bit of cleaning up, nothing fatal just plain
nuisance and time consuming.

How do you know if your list is on LIST2, LISTS3, LISTS5 or LISTS8?
Go to your lists tools via
http://lists.rootsweb.com/tools/LISTNAME
Convert LISTNAME to your list's name. If the url changes to reflect
LISTS2, LISTS3 or LISTS8, then it is not on LISTS5. If it still says
LISTS or LISTS5, then it is on LISTS5
