Holliday Greeting to the persons on this Gen De list. I hope I'm not to late
to say Happy New Years. It's 19 hours away from where I am at this time.
Now For Genealogy: I'm sorry I can't write nor read German but have
plans to learn in the next few months. I am a American Cousins to the
Kaufmann, and do so want to write the Kaufmann-Cousins left behind. I have
read of the things our people went through, that were anabaptist, from 1535
to 1800's there in Deutschland and Europe and General area. I'm an old
fellow but it brought tears to my eyes when I read about it a few years
ago. My Swiss/Dutch ancestors came from places like Canton Bern, and two or
there other places, that I'll look up. The Mennonite Magazine, in Lancaster
County Penn. USA, which is located on land given by the crown of Great
Britton to Lord William Penn, In a rewrite much later, about their arrival
to the USA. It didn't give Wives nor Children info, but said that Three
Brother-like Kaufmann's arrived in 1717 to Lancaster County. Their names
were Isaac, Andreas, and Michael Kaufmann. I think Isaac and Andreas were
brothers, and that Michael might of been a cousin or other related. I
descend from Andreas b.1668 Bern. In time I will supply all info requested
of me about their American Families, and what I have on their families in
Swiss/Dutch which goes back to about 1535 and Jacob Kaufmann is first male
show on my chart. My name was changed to Coffman in abt. 1770, and I'm sorry
it was. I like Kaufmann Better, and is more true to where we were from.
I've just started my Europe Searching today, in hope of getting to meet
some of you which are related. The First thing I did was to go to ""all""
the rootsweb mailing list both in Switzerland and Germany, and run an
archives search for all years that the list has been in operation, on
Kaufmann, Kauffmann, and Kauffman. I copied all of the messages pertaining
to that name and trade on hard drive. I checked all years on this list from
1995 to 2002. I have and am still learning a great deal and suggest it's a
good way to try to learn things without bothering others. You can find
1000's of leads to do a follow up contact later to. And Please don't be
surprised to get an e-mail from me if it looks like you could be in my
family line.
Now for the Big Question: By chance do the Kaufmann's, and Cousins there
have Family Reunions. I respectfully request that Your Europe Kaufmann line
please consider inviting some of your American Cousins to attend. If you do
decide to, I will do all the work, and get other K/Coffman to help, in
America to make it work. And to let you know that, I will be first in line
to get there and will try to learn to talk enough Dutch to be understood and
be on time.
This is my first attempt to perfect this, and I am sure there are other
places/people there to ask this request from, and please do send any links
you have that you might think will help this happen, too:
