Hello! I am new to the list, and have been away from genealogy for awhile. I just found another link in my family tree........my ggggggrandfather, John F. Coughman, born about 1750. He was given a land grant about 1790 for services in the Revolutionary War and lived in Cayuga County, NY. His son was Jonathan Cuffman, whose son was John W. Cuffman, whose son was John D. Cuffman (see a pattern here?). John D. my gggrandfather, moved his family to Butler/Clarion Counties PA in the 1870s, and worked in the oil boom. Later on he ran a livery stable.
This line married into Winthrop descendant lines, with surnames including Frost, Woolever, Hyatt, and Underhill. Most lived in the Long Island, Putnam County areas of NY.
Would be interested in hearing from any possible connections. Am particularly interested in finding how and where the name originated, since it was probably Kaufman or a variant. Thanks! Diane Cuffman Ryder, Columbus OH

by Charles Fahs Kauffman.
The Coffman/Kauffman book has been recently reprinted ...with the permission of

Here is the address to purchase the book:
Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society
2215 Millstream Road
Lancaster, PA 17602-1499
Phone: (717) 393-9745
I believe the total cost with shipping was $65 (it's a huge book).
I bought this book last year from the Lancaster Historical Society in
Pennsylvania as I recall. It has a great number of Kauffman/Coffman's in
it. Unfortunately, I haven't established my link yet. If you look back in
the Kaufman Genforum List Serv, the address/number for the book purchase
should be there. I lost all my emails in a system crash several months ago
so I don't have my initial info. Sue Prince

I ordered it through an organization in PA ... cannot remember, but someone
will...
Cost about $65. Let me know if no one comes up with the ordering info and I
will do further research.
OH, yes ... and there are several pages listed under both Correll and Hartman
in the index (first names not included in index).

Help, I'm trying to find a copy of the book "A genealogy and history of the
Kauffman-Coffman families of North America 1584 to 1937" by Charles Fahs
Kauffman.
I was told that my ancestors were in this book. I would like to confirm this
and purchase of copy of the book if indeed my family are in it. Would anyone
who has a copy please let me know if Moses Correll and his wife Nancy Hartman
are in this book. Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Karen
