I am looking for any information or possible leads on my husband's
Great Grandmother Eliza
Coffman Brown who married John W. Brown . They lived in Frederick County,
Cedar Creek , Virginia .
They had several children, she then left him and I was told went to Pa. and
married Jake Hebb. I saw in the family search.org . two Eliza Coffman's ,
one born 1814 , and one born 1851 , both in Shenadoah,
Virginia . I am wondering if the one born in 1814 could be her Mother , the
one born in 1851 could possibly be my husband's Great Grandmother. I would
appreciate any-----------information I can get.
I understand there was a town called Coffman , Virginia. Can anyone help me
out ?????

Hello List, this is Zella,
I haven't any place else to search, so I'm respectfully asking the
Coffman List for help. I must make this clear so that you will know the
exact info I am seeking, So here goes.
Overall View: We know all date's and Data on husband and wife, we will
post in a min. We find the husband remarrying 16 years later, Never could
find info on the wife after Marriage. We do not know if they had children or
not, of which is the info we seek.
Facts: Husband was born in Grainger, Tn. 1824, went to Polk county,Mo
with in the 1830's, Was married in 1849,at age 24 in Polk Co. Mo. To
Elizabeth S. Sanders, age 19. Husband was named Andrew David at birth, was
called Andy by friend's and Family, but had used Dietrich, A.D., D.C. later
in Texas and Louisiana from 1866 on and died in 1873 in Cooke Co. County
Texas. Also, for last names he used Kaufmann, Kauffman and Houfman.
We are asking the list for Coffman's that might of been related to either
of them. Or Coffman's that may of been born between 1849-1865 and have birth
place in Mo.,Tx., Louisianna (It could of been in a nebr. state) that can't
find a family connection to a line.
Thank you kindly for your attn. Bye Zella Coffman

Hi. Toolmaker, Carl in Wichita here. That was interesting. Do you know if
John's father, David Coffman could of been a Jr.? Dates almost
right to work, but places far a field. Want to take a quick look? Go to to
<www.familysearch.org> type in David Coffman,b.1787, with anc. chart. This
David was born in Tn. Grainger, died in Polk Co. Missouri in 1838.
David,b.1787 had a son David who could of maybe been Grandfather to your
John. You can get date of birth from chart, and if you thank there is a
chance it would work out, i'll try to work with you. My anc. was one of the
children of David,b.1787.
I really don't know what info you have before John, and this is a long
shot and am only trying to help. P.S. watch your set back, and bend allow.
on all form blocks <grin>. Those were the days. Good bye, Carl Coffman

I found a couple of marriages in Missouri that I cannot place.
Margarett Coffman married Hiram Smith 6/28/1832 in Clay Co, MO. They
were married by John P Smith, justice of the peace. There is a
notation that the bride is underage but the marriage was in the
presence of and with the consent of her parents(who are not named).
From that last statement I would guess that she was born after 1811.
The only Coffman family I know of at that time living in Clay Co, MO
is Nellie Coffman and her mother Nellie Coffman. I do not know of
any male Coffman household in the area at that time. Can anyone
place her parents?
Isaac Coffman married Eliza Ann Cooper 1/14/1845 in Clay Co, MO. I
do not know who he is at all but he seems to follow some of Nellie's
grandchildren to the Nodaway/Andrew Co area of Missouri. Can anyone
place his parents?
