ARKANSAS HISTORY AND PIONEERS
Explored by Hernando de Soto in 1541, Arkansas became the twenty-fifth state
of
the Union in 1836. This database is a history of the state and biographical
register of many important settlers in the region. Beginning with the
earliest
explorers to the region, it provides a detailed account of the state's
development. Additionally, it contains biographical sketches of important
pioneers and residents. Of particular use to the researcher are these brief
histories and genealogies. Names of ancestors and descendants are included
in
many entries, making this an invaluable tool for the researcher whose
ancestors
lived in Arkansas.

I realize that most (if not all) the COFFMAN/KAUFFMAN families which
settled in the Lancaster co. area around 1800 and before, immigrated
from Germany. If you happen to be researching one of these families,
I'd be very interested in what part of Germany you were able to trace
yours back to. Thanks!
Olive May COFFMAN Breithling died Saturday, 4/29/00. The obit from "The
Daily Gazette" of Schenectady, NY came today. Not all of the information
is correct - according to what I submitted to the funeral home, but the
corrections are noted afterwards.
obit
"Olive May Breitlhling
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. OIive May
Coffman Breithling, 91, of DeGraff
Street, formerly of Bell Road in East
Galway, died Sunday at Ellis Hospital
after a long illness.
Born in Piqua, Ohio, Mrs. Breithling worked as a masseuse in the Saratoga
Baths, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Galway Senior Citizens
Mrs. Breithling was the widow of Ivar Breithling, who died in 172
She is survived by two sisters, Bessie Faith COFFMAN Jones of Yuma, Ariz.,
and Betty Jo COFFMAN Stone of Louise, Miss.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am. this morning a~ East Ga lWay
Cemetery.
Burial will be in East Galway Cernetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the Hospice of Schenectady,
1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY
12308
Arrangements are by Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Sacandaga Rod, Galway
Village."
Note that the actual date of death was Saturday, not Sunday as noted. The
Saratoga Baths were/are actually controlled by the State of New York and
that retirees are then retrired from NYS.
Although I submitted her dead direct relatives, the paper ignored
them. Her father was Aaron Coffman of Ft. Larmie, OH, her mother was
Bessie Cloe Foster of Piqua and she had three sisters who preceded her in
death: Mildred Fern Coffman, b. September 15, 1912, d April 19, 1979;
Minnie Bell Coffman, b October 02, 1917, d October 1982; Bonney Lucille
Coffman, b October 26, 1920, d February 25, 1985.
Any questions, comments, please ask me,
May God be with us all.
