It appears I'm the guilty one that helped to spread the HAPPY99 virus this time. I'm very sorry. I saw the name and immediately deleted it, but had not cleaned it off my system. This has been done.
Please accept my apologies.

Marj. Good morning, and other John Searchers.
I give up tring to sleep, joints hurt to much. Have you searchers given any
thot on how, the above John,s father, got located in Va. and then on to
Tennessee from Penn. or a area state. Va and Tenn was called N.C. Terr. then
and latter states. I thing I can guess fairly good on how. The whole area
was full of Indians that had been run out of New England and highway
men/trapper that were friendly with Indians
The movement to N.C. Terr started soon after the end of the American Rev. It
started with a fight with the Mennonite because they would not sign papers
stating that solders (Brothers, sons uncles) were away
fighting, as mennonites did not beleive in war. I know David Harmon Kauffman
b.1750, and Andrew Kauffman b.1860 (brothers) started what must of been a
Large wagon train (very early in the 1780,s)down the trail on the Penn.
mountains to N.C. Terr. First thing the brothers did was change to Baptist,
Andrew change name to Coffman (First one I can Find) in my tree. Now my
point is it would take a large number of people to do this that could fight,
to make it and to stay safe to live, farm, and have children. No way to
prove it but I think a lot of
our Anc., Cousins, Fell out with the mennonites (and their labor camps) and
took that trip with the Coffman brothers. The brothers soon after getting
there bought or homesteaded 200 acers (Va) then Andrew went to Grainger
county Tn. and farmed. and later back to Va. then David tred Tn. and then
back to Va. I cannot tell you how manny others were making moves like this
(our cousins) but their had to be some and I think John,s b.1804 father and
mother may of been two of them that did make the trip. How else could John
been borned there. Remember also that Andrew and David had preachers in
family and the Baptist Preachers mover where they were needed. Andrew died
1845 in Grainger, Tn and left his farm to his 4 boys and freed the slaves.
David passed his slaves on down to family members. Bad David!Bad Times! I
know this is a story, but some of it has to have merit, as you do not take
women and children without a lot of fire power to protect them. And who
best! the Coffman boys and Cousins. The same thing happend in 1835 when
David b.1787, Andrew b.1760 son left Grainger, Tn. (an other Baptist
Preacher) with his large family and the large family of Bunch,s to settle in
Polk County, Missouri. The Osage Indians were friendly there. I think the
Coffman in Va. and Tenn. keep their bags packed like I said. A great big
at-a-boy for first person finding a travel date that will fit into this
story. I also tell Xmas stories. Thanks. Carl in Wichita,Ks

Does anyone have any information on the Kauffman family from Lehigh,
Northampton or Bucks Co, PA? I have a missing piece to my puzzle, having a
female from my Marsteller line marry a man named Kauffman, first name
unknown.
I know it's a shot in the dark, but I appreciate any leads
Thanks
Hello list,
I have just added a bunch of Coffman stuff to my web site. I added
pictures of the old Coffman House in Russellville, TN along with some
information about the house. Also I added a photo of Charles Fahs
Kauffman and a photo of Lovel Coffman b: 1800. Just follow the links to
"Patricia's Genealogy Pages".

I sent an inquiry a little while ago that didn't quite convey what I
intended. It sounded like I am miserly, which I may be. What I intended is
that my retirement income does not permit me to buy a "pig-in-a-poke." I
suspect that the Leonard F Coffman that is on the CD's is my Leonard F's son
and the information will not be new to me.
Jim Crownover-
The following is not my Leonard F Coffman, but i am wondering if anyone
knows about the family of this Leonard.
August 7, 1802, Bk N, p410. John Freed and Elizabeth, his wife, of Stoney
Creek, sold to Leonard Coffman, of Shenandoah, land on both sides of Stoney
Creek, that John Freed acquired in 1790.
Jim Crownover-
Hi,
There is a Leonard F Coffman that appears on CD318 and WFT Vol.23. Since I
do not have the wherewithal to purchase these and am not inclined to
purchase a "pig-in-a-poke." I was wondering if anyone out there has them.
Jim Crownover-
Dear List, This is a test, no need to reply
