Hello! I am searching for information on my maternal grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Coffman. He lived and died in the Casey and
Russell County, KY. area. I know he was married twice, the second time to my maternal grandmother, Annie Lee Mundy, who is still alive. (There is a ongoing uncertainty as to how her surname was spelled as I have also seen it spelled Munday and Monday). He was known and "Ben Frank" and was said to have a nice home and farm in that area. He died in the '40's when my mother was about eight years old. I know one of his sons by his first marriage was Andrew Coffman. Does he sound familiar to any of you? I am trying to build a family tree for our extended family and the little ones we have in the family now. Any help would be appreciated.
uld be appreciated.
Hello,
I am Tony Williams, My Grandmother was Verina Francis (Coffman) Williams.
she m. John F. Williams. Her Father was Robert Coffman and her Mother was
Sara Ann Matilda Jane Haney. Does any of this sound familiar? If so please
reply.
Thanks, Tony

Do any of you Coffman researchers have a Michael listed
anywhere?
I've lost my ggg-grandfather Michael Coffman born abt 1816.
Was in Tennessee before 1842 when he married Sallie
Dillworth in Knox County, TN. ANY leads are welcome.
I'm at a total loss as to where to look next.

My hobby is genealogy, I raise dust bunnies as pets.
Ok this is all I can find at the moment. I can't find my census for Miss
which might answer some of my questions. its been so long since I was
working on this family.. I am going to keep your request so when I get to
doing this family on computer, in the new program I will see if I come up
with anything else... the following may be hints...???
John Kauffman who ended up in TN had several sons, one which was David born
1745 PA died 1855 Limestone AL had a son Lovell S. who died in Giles Co
1842, married to Sarah GREEN this is father of Jacob Free. and others
1830 TN theres a Robert 289 Jefferson CO
I have a Robert 1792 - 1850 marr to Elizabeth Keele he is
brother to Jacob 1777 Vig married to Nancy Walker
In 1840 Limestone AL Robert J. Coffman who is son of Lovell who is son of
David SR. may be listed as R. COFFMAN or rather not listed on index but
found there....
1850 Franklin AL theres a Robert 130 D
a james age six died and listed on Mort sch think it is his son.
In ARK 1870 theres a ROBERT W. 224 mountain twp PIKE co
Can't find any Lorenzo's or Dow and this is all Robert's for the moment.
still think may connect in with Lovell some way since he was in Giles Co.
but others were there in 1830 that I don't know how connected or if.
there is a Robert in 1830 TN but in Jefferson CO. In Giles co there is
Amos, H. J. and a Legard thats spelled COFMAN I only have the C spellings..
IF you get lost be sure to spell it with a K too. and with 1 ot 2 F's and
anything thats simular..

Hi, Jacob F. Coffman 1805 TN was married to Catherine YOUNG. they went thru
Tippah Co. Miss in 1850. think they were there sometime after 45 this
family further back has Lovell S. in Giles Co TN. there are several
Roberts including one that was in Miss. think it was Robert H. wife was
called mary. he is grand some of Jacob F. have his children as James,
Nancy, Alfred. This is in Ark. I know I have seen the name Lorenzo,
but can't find it on my chart... have to look further.. this line is a
huge family with lots of sons, sho all have sons and are all named the same
names, it is not easy to tell what records belong to who. Advice when
searching Make sure you take really good notes and if possible copy
everything including books and Lib/net where you find info. I have a need
program and I am just starting to get all this back on my computer, so it
takes more time to find things.. I will try to look this up more later in
week and get back to group. my family went to christian twp Independence Co
Ark. Jacob was in Franklin Co Al. others in Limestone Al. are related
hope maybe this will at least give you some ideas on where to look.

next stop was TX. seems like I remember a Robert that showed up in Miss. or
Ark. I will ck and see if it matches but in meantime try looking at Ark.
Good luck... Valu(a)pdq.net

I am looking for information on Robert Coffman with a wife Elizabeth who
was in Tippah Co., Miss. in the 1840 census. He was listed there in the
1841 state census as having three males and three females in his
household. He bought land and sold it in 1842, but he is not on the 1845
state census. Lorenzo Dow Coffman is apparently living with him in 1840
and I assume he is a brother. Lorenzo Dow married Sarah Waldrip in Dec.
1841 in Tishimingo Co., Miss. They bought land in Tippah Co. 1842 and
sold it in 1844. In the 1845 state census Lorenzo Dow is in Tishimingo
Co. living with some of the Waldrips. In 1850 he is in Texas. Where did
Robert go, and who was his wife? In his pension application from the
Mexican War, Lorenzo Dow Coffman states he was born Nov. 9, 1818 in
Giles Co., Tenn. According to a relative, his mother was supposed to
have been a Young, but I have never found a Young-Coffman marriage. In
the 1880 census he states he was born in Tenn. and his parents were both
born in N.C.
Does anyone have any information on a Coffman who was in Giles Co. in
1818?

Hi,
I am looking for anyone doing research on Conrad, Isaac, Young, or Adam
Coffman. Adam's wife was Elizabeth Gardener. They were married in 1797,
Somerset, Pennsylvannia. They later migrated to Indiana. Can anyone
help?

I am so sorry! When I added an underline it tripped my mailer into
RTF format automatically, and I didn't notice. My copy of the post I
sent earlier now has printed program code all over it, which is
annoying to have to read around, and I fear it may be altogether
unreadable for some in that format.
I am sending a plain text copy below, and have marked the plain
text copy in the subject line- please delete the original version.
Again, my apologies...

Subject: Wm. KENT & Sarah COFFMAN-Boston mid 1800's
Date sent: Tue, 15 Jun 1999 23:51:25 -0500
Dear Researchers of the COFFMAN and KENT Families,
COFFMAN and KENT are not among the names that I usually have
reason to research, but I am writing to ask a favor, on behalf of my
aunt (by marriage), now in her eighties, and in declining health.
She knows quite a lot of her father's family history, but told me
recently that she has always wanted to know more about her
mother's people. I am hoping some of you can help me give her
this gift.
Here is all the information that she can give me on this line:
Her grandfather was William KENT b. ca late 1830's-1840's, in
Boston, Mass.. He married Sarah COFFMAN (I'm not clear if just
she, or both were of Irish descent, my impression is that Sarah
was Irish, and the Kents were English).
My aunt's mother was born to Sarah and William... It just occurred
to me that I don't know her mother's first name! I can get it,
obviously, if anyone has a record of this couple. I'm laughing at
myself because I knew my aunt's mother well when I was a child,
and didn't even think to ask my aunt about her... but until now,
(and I am forty five years old!) I don't know that it ever occurred to
me that she had a name besides Nanny Dru! (I assume that she
did.< lol!>)
William KENT had a brother, probably in the same age range,
named Joseph KENT, who is believed to have died in the Civil War
(Union?).
Sara COFFMAN, is said to have come from a large family from
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and her father was a wagon maker.
My aunt was born in 1913, and was originally Marjorie
DRUMILLER.
Additional notes that might help connect someone to this line:
My aunt grew up in the Branson, Missouri area, [and as I recall, a
Sullivan, Mo., (?) in the same area- but she only mentioned
Branson in our last conversation] The family still lived in that area, I
believe, when she married my uncle on Christmas Eve, 1940, and
she has lived in Arkansas, as far as I know, since that time. After
her father's death, Nanny Dru, came to live here, also. My aunt
has a sister, Mary, still living, in Kansas City (?), and a brother,
now deceased, that lived in Hawaii for many years before his death
(Medical note: he died of a bee sting- and was, until then, unaware
of his acute allergy).
My primary objective is for my aunt to know her maternal history, if
this is possible, but if someone is researching this line, my aunt- a
ggrandmother herself now- might well have information to share,
and possibly photographs and artifacts from her grandparents
forward.
She has access to the web, at her daughter's home, however, she
doesn't use computers. There are several possibilities around that
problem, and I would be happy to work out something to connect
her with anyone who would like to speak with her, online, or
otherwise. She would be delighted, I can assure you. She is quite
lucid, and only recently slowed somewhat by health issues. (She
has been a rich resource for me in learning about my maternal
line, which she shares through my uncle, who is now deceased.)
I'd like to express my appreciation in advance for your time and
effort in reading my request, and for assisting if you can. With the
same confidence I would have in the researchers on the RootsWeb
Lists I usually follow, I have the warm glow of certainty that if any
of you have the information I'm seeking, you will share it on behalf
of my aunt- and that's a really nice feeling. Thank you.
Sincerely,
