When I received Pattie Hannon's query, I got excited. It didn't last though.
Now I wonder if there is merely a coincidence in names or there is
connection between Pattie's Leonard and mine.
I have been looking for Leonard F Coffman's family and ancestry along with
that of his first wife without success thus far. My information indicates
that he was born circa 1807 in KY and died in Jefferson County, IL in the
1860's.
He had a family with a wife unknown to me (one source indicates her name was
Nancy Wilgus and another source indicates that Nancy Wilgus and the Leonard
she married were too young). One of his daughters from this marriage was
named Eliza Ann (1833 Logan Co, KY).
On the death of Leonard F's first wife, he married Phebe Loman, the widow of
Isaac Loman. They had one son together ... Leonard F Coffman, Jr (IL?).
Leonard F raised Phebe's children by Isaac Loman with his own and included
them in his will. Among these children was John W Loman (1832 Richmond, KY).
John W Loman and Eliza Ann Coffman married. Among their children was my
ancestor, William L Loman.

My Jacob Kauffman (b. 1840-?; d. ?) was a son of Alexander and Rebecca

Hello everyone... I have come to a complete dead end on my Coffman lineage,
and any info would be most welcome if you recognize any of my info. My
great-great grandmother was Nancy Jane Coffman, born abt. 1852, (place
unknown), died 1926 Howard County, Arkansas, and is buried there. She was
married to John Thompson Markham in 1868 in Pike County, Arkansas. Most of
her life was spent in Arkansas around the Langley, and Albert Pike, Arkansas
area of the Quachita Mountains. The name could have possibly been spelled
Kaufman at one time. Thank you. Brenda Burress
I haven't posted in a while, so thought I would try again. I have most of
the descendants of "my" John Coffman (outline below), but sure would
like to find out who his parents and/or siblings were! Anything look

Sorry again everyone. I tried to send the picture but apparently it will
overload the server at Rootsweb so I can't send it through the list. Sooo, if
anyone wants me to send them a copy just email me and I will send to you

Attached is a copy of the first page of the book. I thought everyone
might want to get a look at the man who wrote it. I have a bio written by
a gr-gr-uncle Newt Coffman where he talks about being contacted by Charles
Fah Kauffman for information for this book. He tells an interesting story
and says that he wishes he still had the letter as it was a story in
itself.
I imagine the book is pretty hard to find. I know of one person who has a
copy, she said she bought it at a bookstore for $100. in PA. I have
copies of a few pages of the book and I have most of the information
contained in the book with further resources.

There is a copy of this book in the Denver Public Library, 5th Floor (Genealogy).
I copied off the pages I needed at ten cents a page, and used it to weed out lots
of Coffman strains that I didn't need to research.
Hi,
Here is the name of the Kauffman - Coffman Book that everyone asks
about. I am not sure if the person that sent me this sent the correct
spelling of the street. It looks like it should be Florida. You will
have to get this book from your library.
If anyone else knows any other books, I would like to hear about
them.
