In reference to the Kauffman Book, it isn't available any more at this
time. Your local library should have a copy of it. (if the library is
fairly large.) The Denver Public Library has one for sure. I know that
some one is taking orders for a new edition that is updated. I will
try and post the man's name today.

I thought only books published before 1926 are out of copyright.

My Coffman Line starts with Isaac Cofman, reportedly born in 1770 in KY
(could have been in a VA area that became KY later. He left KY and 1-7-1794
he married Amy Carson in Jefferson County, TN (I have a copy of their
Marriage Bond and of John Carson's Will leaving land to Isaac (John was
Amy's Father).
I have carried the line forward with some success BUT cannot identify the
parents of Isaac and, therefor, cannot make a connection to our European
Roots. I would appreciate hearing from all of you that may be able to assist
in this effort.

Any body have an Ida Coffman, born near 1860. She married John Amos Davis. He died about 1940 in Texas. They were living in Greenville, TX when my grandfather was born.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for any Coffman's who reside in Iowa. My family members were
from Nashau area. John Baker Coffman was my grandmother's grandfather.
There was a Birdie Coffman who was a teacher who was a relative. I don't
know much about the family so would love to hear from anyone who is related
or know of any one I can contact.
Thanks in advance for your help.
We're finally getting a little winter here in Montana. The second ski hill
in this area of the State opened yesterday. The skiers are happy. Merry
Christmas to everyone.

I am looking for a Pat Coffman (maiden name White) born about 1920-1923.
I believe she is from the Columbus, OH area. She lived in Saint Albans, WV.
Had a daughter named Dora Mae.
If anyone has any information on her, her husband, or their line, please let
me know.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
I am researching the children of Jasper & Sophronia Cross. One of
their daughters was Ora Cross who married a Coffman. She lived for
many years in Goree, Knox County, TX.
Ora Cross Coffman was born Oct. 3, 1876 and died Jan 1973 in Knox
County, TX. I have just sent off for a copy of her death certificate
hoping it would give me leads to her husband and/or children.
Does anyone know who she married in the Coffman family? What about her
children?
Specifically, I am looking for the following info:
Ora's husband, his birth & death date
Marriage date
Burial location
Children names
Can anyone help me with Ora Coffman and her family?
Thanks,
Krista Ingram
Does anyone recognize Harriet? Her parents were John COFFMAN b. 1797 PA
and Christena (Brining)b. 1803 Germany. I'd very much like to find out
where in Virginia, she was born because I suspect it may have been
somewhere near her grandparents. If it helps, she later married
Prettyman "Pert" BARR in Logan co, IL 10/11/1860.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Tonight is the Grand Opening of the Mid-Atlantic Roots Network at:
http://midatlantic.rootsweb.com/
As part of the Grand Opening the FamilyHart online database was updated
today. The FamilyHart database contains over 205,000 linked names of people
from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia
and North Carolina and other locations. Many of the new additions for this
update come from Washington, Frederick and Garrett counties in Maryland; from
the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia; from the southern counties of
Pennsylvania; from Davidson, Iredell, Lincoln, and Gaston counties of North
Carolina and from West Virginia. There are many new Sturm, Hollinger,
Glatffelder, Rhyne, Kauffman, and other family descendants added. Many
Brethren and Mennonite names have been added with this update. Our thanks
goes to all who have contributed to make this possible, especially our
friends at Rootsweb who so graciously host this site.
Thanks!!!

"Aaron Coffman's family as told to me (Bonnie Rush Johnson) by Gerald Rush
(my dad). his parents came from Germany. They were German jews. Gpa
Aaron ws born in the United States (Laramie, Ohio) but he may have had
brothers and sisters born in the old country.
1. Bill
2. Al (a real Jew - ooks + all)
3. Felex (may have been Bill) Defiance, Ohio
4. Gpa Aaron
5. Suz md Ed Weldy
?. Charlie Coffman md Lena (Charlie lived in Pannesoffie, Fla)
Gpa aaron loved to argue - no matter what side. He loved to take the
losing side. He lost his job for about a year one time because he took the
Communist side just to argue (probably World War II). The government was
about to deport him but investigated him.
I did not see Gpa Aaron or know of him going to church but records say he
belonged to the United Brethern church (a lot of our relatives - even on
daddy's side were going to the United Brethern church).
Gpa Aaron was very good at wood work. Among other things he made a
childrens horse swing and a horse cart you could peddle."
This is from a signed statement provided by my cousin Bonnie. I have
quoted as she wrote it down. Aaron Coffman died in 1964 in Gulfport
Mississippi at the age of 73. I have the obit from the Biloxi-Gulfport
Daily Herald, dated February 3, 1964. Interesting how the family was
German Jews who seemingly changed to United Brethern along the way. Just
thought I'd pass this "story" along for general interest. Maybe others can
reactivate the list with similar stories about their families.
