wants a Copy of? And please send it to her? I read it, I think. on
Familytreemaker, on a Coffman search, and do not have a hard copy to send

Hi. Ellen, Yes thats what I meant. I'm going to be out of town, Texas,
searching. Will contact all list members when I get back. It appears my anc.
and wife may of been killed along the Red river,Okla. and Texas lines in
1871-1874, leaving Twin children somehow alive. This would be my Grandfather
and his Sister, B.1867. See you when I get back from Fannin County,Texas.
Records show there were 190 people killed in a two month period, around the
Red River Counties.

MYSTERY IN FANNIN CO.TX.
, Magdaline S. Sheltman Coffman is mother to these two children, and there's
ever chance she may be burried there, from when she died the year before. It
is our intent to find Andrew/Dedrick and Magdaline graves. The Harrisons run
Magdaline and Coffman children off of the Harrison land when the Harrison
man died, a tail from my father. You really should talk to dad. Bye-bye.

I recently inquired regarding three Leonard Coffmans. One married Elizabeth
Turns 21 Sep 1809 in Logan Co, IL; one married Elizabeth Burns 21 Sep 1809;
and one married Peggy Hannon 4 Jun 1791 in Shenandoa Co, VA. I suspect that
the first two are identical with either Turns or Burns being an incorrect
spelling (which one?). The latter could be a prior marriage.
I have now found [actually, a kind volunteer found], a
Leonard Coffman, age 66 VA?, with Elizabeth, age 60 MD?, and children
(Clayton, Elizabeth, and Frances). Time and place are unclear to me at this
time, but it could be Brown Co, IL.
Do any of these names ring bells?
I am trying to learn the relationship of these Leonards to Leonard F
Coffman, who married Nancy Wilgus 20 May 1829 in Logan Co, KY, and Phebe
Davenport Loman in 1848 in Todd Co, KY. Logan and Todd Counties abut.
Leonard F was in Hopkins Co, KY, in 1850 and had relocated to Jefferson Co,
IL, by 1860.
Jim Crownover-
I am looking for Laura Coffman b 1877 in Virginia, married several times, one
of them my gggrandfather William Miles, she died 1958 in Reading, Ca. Her
brother Thomas Coffman supposed to be in Clyde, Ks. I can find nothing of
them, if anyone has any info I be happy to share what I have.
Sandy Jones
A Leonard Coffman married Peggy Hannon 4 Jun 1791 in Shenandoah Co, Va.
A Leonard Coffman married Elizabeth Turns Sep 1809 in Logan Co, KY.
Is this the same Leonard?
What is his/their relationship to the Leonard Coffman that married Nancy
Wilgus 20 May 1829 in Logan Co, KY?
Dear List,
I'm waiting on film to be send to our Library on Census, for two counties
in Texas. I wander if anyone on the the list might have a short cut,on two
below, by having them in their line,in the mean time?
Dedrick Coffman,b. abt 1830-1840, was in the 1870 census in Fannin,
County, Tx.---- was in the county of Harrison,Co.Tx. Book of early Texas
Marriages, Marring 3/21/1866,to Magdaline Harrison. Will be very greatful
for your help. And happy Thanksgiving. Carl in Wichita

I will post my elusive Lorenzo Dow Coffman/Kaufman again. He was born in
Giles Co., Tenn. in 1819, according to his pension from the Mexican War
of 1846. The first time he is on a record is in 1841 when he married
Sarah Waldrip in Old Tishimingo Co., Miss. In 1840 he was living with
his brother, Robert Coffman, in Tippah Co., Miss. Robert and his wife
Elizabeth bought and sold property in Tippah Co., and Lorenzo Dow
Coffman and his wife also bought and sold property in Tippah in the
early 1840s. In 1846 or earlier he apparently moved to Henderson Co.,
Texas, and then to Kaufman Co. He was in Denison Co., Texas when the
Civil War started. He and his son Franklin and a son James all joined
the Civil War. James was kicked out because he was too young and died at
home soon afterwards. About 1863 Lorenzo Dow Kaufman, as he signed his
name, moved to Mexico with his family, Franklin's family, and cattle.
Franklin came to visit and was his way back to the war when he was
killed by a Mexican in Mexico.
I have looked at all of the people that might have been in or around
Giles Co. in 1819. There is an Amos Coffman that was there that had a
son his age and the age of Robert. (Robert was in Miss. in the 1850
census and I have not been able to locate him since. Don't know if he
died or moved.) Amos bought land there in the late 1820s but doesn't
seem to appear after about 1830. There is another Amos that was adopted
by a family, I think in VA. or Ky., that was around later but it is not
the same one.
My great aunt wrote a note that Lorenzo Dow Coffman's mother was a Young
and a cousin says he has an older relative still living and he thinks
the mother was a Youngblood. Does anyone have any info on him or any
ideas? I have been looking for him for years. He is one of the family
dead ends.
Joyce
I'll jump on the "slow times" bandwagon and repeat
what I'm looking for. A number of lists periodically
have a "roll call" where people are encouraged to
broadcast their open issues. Perhaps this would be
a good time for everyone to do that.
I am looking for a John Coffman or John Cuffman,
who was a member of the loyalist Prince of Wales
American Regiment during the Revolution, from 1777
to 1783, and then emigrated to New Brunswick. This
regiment was recruited in Connecticut in January 1777.
I would guess he was most likely born about 1760 in
Connecticut or New York. The name Coffman seems to
be pretty rare in that place and time.
In some of the muster rolls his name was spelled
Coofman, Coughman or Caughman.
He apparently later changed his name to John DeMerchant,
first using that name in 1805. (Cuffman means merchant
in German). He may have used the name John Merchant or
John Marchant earlier.
Mark Dionne
Newton, MA
I Just can't find any thing... When you search and search, then come up with
nothing, then there is just nothing to say.... This is who I am looking for
info on...
Reminder, do not copy my info and record it as "Gospel" there is way to much
of that going around... where is your proof of what I say is correct.. where
is my proof.. I have little to none..
This is one major research I am doing of this family, just to prove what I
have is correct and I have NOT been able to.
If any one has proof, I would sure appreciate having copies...
Thank you.... Cathy
