Looking for information on Harmon Coffman (Kauffman) who I believe is the
father of John Henry Coffman. Harmon might be the son of John Nicholas Coffman
(Kauffman).

Hi Charles,
Thanks for pointing me toward your Coffman Homepage. I didn't find any
names that fit into my family--at least at this time--but maybe I'll have
better luck when I know more about the Jacob COFFMAN family from Fayette
Co., PA.

Hi Cathy,
Yes, I would like more information on Nicholas and his father John. I'm
especially interested in tying them to my Jacob COFFMAN (b. ca 1749), his
son Henry or Henry John (who moved to Harrison Co., WV ca 1800), and Henry's
3 brothers and 4 sisters (whose names and familiess I haven't found). The
first information I have on them is their living in Smithfield, PA (near
Lancaster), prob. the Smithfield located in Fayette Co., PA.
Appreciate your help, Cathy.

Hi to all,
If memory serves me correctly, and I have the right county, the Nicholas
Coffman in the below info is the son of John Nicholas. From what I can
remember, with out going through all my info.. Members in the house hold
were possible siblings and maybe mother.
If any one needs futher info on this family, I will try to look up what I
have... Cathy in Oregon
"Also there were Daniel Coffman (9 in family), Isaac (8), and Nicholas
(10) in Harrison County in 1790. And a Christly Coffman, Jr. was a
property owner in 1787 in Harrison County, WV. He also is a Berkeley Co.,
WV Revolutionary War nonmilitary patriot (listed by Anne Waller Reddy).
She also lists John and Isaac Coffman."
Hi Diane,
The following paragraph has all the information I have in family files on
the name Christian or Christly Coffman. I always suspected that Christian
was the brother or son of my ancestor Jacob COFFMAN of the Smithfield, PA
area (b. ca 1749). As you will note in the next paragraph, Christian and
Christly Coffman, Jr. were (at least temporarily) in Harrison Co., (W)VA
before 1800. My ancestor Henry COFFMAN moved to this County ca 1800 and
married and lived out his life there--as did his children and
grandchildren. It's very likely that Christian was at least a close relative
of my Henry Coffman.
"A Christian Coffman and John Duval (tenants) bought 400 acres on Goose
Creek in Harrison Co., WV to include Coffman's settlement prior to 1778.
A Christly Coffman is a resident of Harrison County in 1790 (and has a
family of 9).
Hope this helps a little. Keep me posted on your progress.

Elizabeth Clarke Coffman married William Veach in Mercer Co KY June 19
1787. She was the widow of Christian Coffman. An Isaac Coffman signed the
marriage bond with William Veach. I believe he was her brother-in-law.
She had a son Isaac, a daughter Polly and 2 other children with Coffman.
Does anyone have information on this family? I am particularly interested
in finding out where they were married. If anyone could help me I would
appreciate it, and would be willing to share any information that I have.

I'm interested in finding anyone who's researching Willer who may also
have contacts with the Kauffman family. These two families came to the U.S.
from Germany together, and several Willers married Kauffmans. I believe
these families came from Frankfurt.
Thanks

Hi,
I noticed a reply from Sharon Tribble to Judy Archer and picked up on the
children listed by Judy of info. on Harmon B. Coffman. I noticed he had a
child named Issac Coffman and I am searching for info. on an Issac Coffman
born in Ky. with a father born in Tenn. My Issac was born around 1830 and
moved to Mo. where he married a Sarah Gillispie in l850. I thought there
might be a connection to this family if so I would be glad to share what I
know so far. I realize this is a long shot since I know so little. Any help
would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Edna
Hi Judy:
I've had your note in my COFFMAN file for a while. Thought it was time I
answered a few.
I have a John Henry COFFMAN. I believe he was my gr grandmother's father. Not
sure who his wife was. His dau. was Julie Ann COFFMAN. Julie was my gr
grandmother. Julie b. Abt 1868, marr. Walter Alexander KENNICUTT. They lived
in Gairther, AR at the time my grandfather (Claude Henry KENNICUTT) was born. in
1890. I know there are still family in Harrison and around that area. My
Grandfather (Claude) still has a cousin, Henrietta COFFMAN living in Harrison.
She is 92 yrs. old. She doesn't seem to recall to much about the people. She
remembers names, but even those aren't quite clear.
Other child. were Etta, Molly, ElZeda, Bess, Joe, Charles, Beal, Jim, William,
Vann, Minnie, Lee, & G. C.
Henrietta's parents were G. C. COFFMAN and Ida HAUBOLD. She had one brother
named Cleave.
If any of these might help you, I will try to work with you. Maybe you could
shed some light on things for me, if you have any of these names.
Best Wishes,
Sharon Tribble

Hi Brittany,
Why don't you tell me who your ancestors are, where and when they
were born, etc. and maybe I can fill in a few gaps for you if we are from
the same Coffman Clan. Is your family from the Virginia-Pennsylvania area?
My line is: Jacob Coffman (1749; PA-Germany), Henry Coffman (1783-1862;
Harrison Co., WV), Benjamin Coffman (1813-ca 1895; Harrison County),
William Coffman (1814-1917; Braxton Co., WV), Jedediah W. Coffman
(1872-1955; Braxton County), John Guy Coffman (1904-1987; Braxton
County), and me (b. 1940, Nicholas Co., WV).
I have lots of other information on this family if it includes your
ancestors. Good luck.

Hi,
I am looking to confirm the father of my Christian Coffman Sr. (7/4/1769
PA-4/6/1854). He married Catherine Garber in 1814 in Augusta Co. VA. It was
suggested that his father might be Martin Coffman Jr.(1740-1805) s/o Martin
Coffman Sr. (1699/1718 - 5/17/1749 Augusta Co. VA. Does anyone know of this
familyd? Christian and Catherine had 18 children, the last of which is my
gggrandmother, Sarah "Sally" Coffman (6/3/1831 Augusta co. VA- 9/20/1914 NE)
Thanks for any help you can give! Diane
My wife's mother's maiden name is KAUFMANN. Her father was Frank Emil
KAUFMANN. Frank's parents were Ludwig KAUFMANN, who was born 1851 in
Germany and died 1901 in Erie, PA, and Barbara MAIHOEFFER, b 1885. Frank's
siblings were Adolph, John, Marie (Mary), and Josephine.
If you have any information that might relate, please let us know.

I'm searching for daughters of Mary Ann Whisenhunt, daughter of James Thomas
Whisenhunt and Carrie Collum, and Benjamin Coffman, son of William Turner
Coffman and Lou Anderia Pinkerton. They were Verda Coffman, Violet Coffman,
and Wanda Coffman. I believe they could have moved to Mississippi or Idaho
or somewhere. They were from Pike county, or thereabouts, AR. These are my
first cousins, but we never met. Any and all help is appreciated.
