Dear Judy,
You might want to check in Eastern PA. My husband's grandmother was a
Kauffman. Numerous Abraham's, Jacob's and Isaac's in the family. They were
located in Lancaster and York Counties.
There is a book on the Kauffman/Coffman Family (1949) by Charles Fahs Kauffman
at the York County Historical Society. I found, at least in my husband's case,
that there are numerous errors. It might be a good book to get some leads, if
you don't take the contents as gospel.
When I get a chance to go to the library again, will check the book for your
names.

Hi,
I'm using a friend's computer to reply to your e-mail query on the Harrison
Co., WV web page, so please respond to my e-mail address listed below.
Henry COFFMAN and Elizabeth ROBINSON are my third great grandparents. I
have very little information on Henry's father Jacob COFFMAN, who
reportedly lived in the Smithfield, PA area in the early-to-mid 1700's and
raised 4 girls and 4 boys.
Henry's son George W. COFFMAN was born ca 1823 in Harrison Co., WV; died
December 2, 1868 in Harrison County. George married Sarah Ann McIntire on
November 2, 1843 in Harrison County. They had 8 sons and 2 daughters. I
also have some information on three of their children if you need it.
George and Sarah's family are listed in the 1860 Harrison County Census.
If you have additional information on Jacob COFFMAN, father of Henry, I
certainly would be happy to add it to my family files. Let me know if I
can help further.

Hi Betty,
Your name has been given to me as a possible source of information on the
COFFMAN family of Pennsylvania. Any help you can give me will be much
appreciated.
My ancestor Jacob COFFMAN (b. ca 1749) lived in the Smithfield, PA
(Fayette County) area in the mid-1700s with 4 boys and 4 girls. A wife
was not mentioned in the source: "History of Prospect Valley," by Nettie
Cooper, 1940).
My third great grandfather, Henry COFFMAN, is one of the 4 boys, and is
the only family member I've been able to find. He was born in
Pennsylvania ca 1775 and moved to Harrison County, (W)VA ca 1800. He
married Elizabeth ROBINSON in Harrison County on 1/22/1804 and they had
many children, all of whom I've been able to trace. Their names are:
Felix R., Augustus W., Jesse, John G. Benjamin R., David, Henry D.,
George W., Margaret, and Elizabeth.
If you see any name that is familiar to you, please e-mail me and I'll be
glad to send you additional information. Thanks.

Cathy,
My Coffman knowledge is only back to 1854 with William H. Coffman who was born
in Alabama, then later moved to Texas. I know his father was born in Georgia,
but I don't know yet what his name was or where he came from. I am just
starting to look at the census records, but we're moving at the same time so I
won't be able to go to the archives for about two more weeks.
Thanks for the (disappointing) info on that book!

Dear Dionne,
I'm not sure where you live, but the York County Historical Society in York, PA
has a copy of this book. My husband is a descendant of Isaac KAUFFMAN and
Christina SITLER. I can't speak about the entire book, but find there are
numerous errors about my husband's immediate family and I am speaking about very
recent generations. Hard to imagine so many errors when some of these people
were alive when the book was written.
By the way, if you are researching York County and surrounding counties, the
York County Historical Society has great information.
Good luck.

As far as I know this book, is no longer available. I know in the past
some have tried to get it and no one ever said if they did. I have heard
several times it is out of print. Which is silly in a way... us Coffmans
keep on going... ha ha haha...
What line are you interested in??

Anyone have info on how to get a book entitled: A Geneaology and History of
the Kauffman-Coffman Families of North America: 1584 - 1937 by Charles Fahs
Kauffman? I have an old (3 years old) note on this book, but didn't seem to
keep track of where to find it.
Any other good books?
Currently searching Coffman roots in Georgia (but I don't know where yet!).

I'm searching for daughters of Mary Ann Whisenhunt, daughter of James Thomas
Whisenhunt and Carrie Collum, and Benjamin Coffman, son of William Turner
Coffman and Lou Anderia Pinkerton. They were Verda Coffman, Violet Coffman,
and Wanda Coffman. I believe they could have moved to Mississippi or Idaho
or somewhere. They were from Pike county, or thereabouts, AR. These are my
first cousins, but we never met. Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,
