This shoud probably be "Anna", TX and is the line I am descended from.
They are the ones who helped settle the "Peters Colony" of Collin County,
TX. If anyone is connected, I would love to hear from you. A short
outline of "my" Coffmans follows. (The * in some of the names denotes my
direct line.)

Lovell Coffman my gg grandfather lived in Red River county and his brother
James Coffman lived in Cherokee, Texas. There is a copy of a letter in the
book I am working on from Lovell to James I. Also, I have a copy of a deed
where Lovell Coffman purchase land in Red River county, Republic of Texas,
in 1846. My mother, his g granddaughter, was born of this place in 1908. You
may find this deed recorded in Red River county dated Aug. 31, 1846.
I believe you will find the Coffman families around Annona are a different
branch and I don't know the details.
I have Lovell and James lineage from about 1800 to recent time. They will
be included in the book. Vicki, if you care to provide a few recent Coffman
relatives (Texas) I will see what I have.

I'm trying to track down my COFFMAN ancestors who moved from Alabama to
Texas and found these names in a list called "Land Survey Abstract
Indices of the Original Land Owners of Texas."
These COFFMANs appear:
COFFMAN, JAMES 196 REDRIV
COFFMAN, JOHN 197 COLLIN
COFFMAN, JOHN 198 COLLIN
COFFMAN, LOVELL 117 TITUS
COFFMAN, PLEASANT 228 CASS
The number is the abstract number (available from the Texas General Land
Office) and the other name is the county (such as "Red River County").
Does anyone know the ancestors of any of these COFFMANs? I'm pretty sure
the James is James Henderson COFFMAN, who married Permelia Anna CARTER.
James and Permelia both died in Annona, TX (Red River County).
Thanks for any help.
