Vicki,
There was and I believe there is still a large family of Coffmans in Annona,
Red River, Texas. However, they are distant kin and I don't believe I have
any information on them. Check this web site.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~txgenweb/
They may be able to help. You may want to linkup with the Red River site
through this link.

Hi Karen,
My COFFMAN web site is at: http://www.citynet.net/personal/coffman
My nephew Larry COFFMAN only recently designed the site, using most
of the Coffman family information I've collected the past 7 years.
My third great grandfather Henry COFFMAN came to Harrison County,
(W)Va ca 1800. His father, Jacob, and Henry's 7 siblings (reportedly 3
boys and 4 girls) may or may not have accompanied Henry in that move from
Pennsylvania (Fayette-Lancaster County, PA area).
If you connect to my line, or if you have questions, please let me know.
Good luck in your research. Where were your Coffmans born?
Jerry Coffman
PS: Is "Moulder" a variation of the spelling of your last name? One of
my best friends is a "Moulder," born in Lebanon, MO. Her 90-year-old
mother and a few siblings still live there, but she now lives in Mexico.

Hello!
I need information from the following family tree in CD # 7 which I do not
own.
World Family Tree Volume #7
More About Tree #1031
Tree #1031, Decker, Custard, Smith of OH, NJ 1552-1995
I need some info on the Decker family. Thank you very much.
Jason Coffman
Jerry and others on the List,
A follow-up on "The Coffman Family Tree" (book): I obtained permission
to revise and publish the book and am now on page 10 of 43 (not a large
book) in the scan/ocr/format process to publish the book. Again, it
mostly covers the Family after leaving Alabama for Texas (1820/30) with
a considerable amount about the family in Texas. I will post
information on the book when I am about complete. Good Luck! and
again, nice web site Jerry!

Vicki and everyone,
Here's my limited Coffman line:
My great grandfather: William Henry Coffman b abt 1850 or before - he lived
in Alabama, but where?
My grandfather: Arthur Brian Coffman, b 3-30-1989 in Guntersville, Alabama,
Marshall Cty
My dad: Gene Payne Coffman, born in Electra, TX, lived in Wichita Falls, TX
I don't know too much, but am working on it! Now you see the need for me to
find Coffman books!
Hello everyone:
I'm trying to find out more information about some COFFMANs who lived in
Limestone Co., AL and then moved to Texas.
James Henderson COFFMAN (18582-1938) married Permelia Anna CARTER
(1849-1926) in Limestone Co., AL They had seven children:
Milton Theodora
Mattie Eugenia
William Waters
Nina Ann
James K. Polk
Samuel Sagville
David Rivers
I derive from the David Rivers COFFMAN line. Those people stayed in
Alabama. However, some of the others (William Waters? James K. Polk?)
moved to Texas.
James Henderson and Permelia Anna (the parents) both died in Annona, TX.
Can anyone help with any of these people?

A copy of page I ran across in my file regarding David Coffman Sr. (from a
book of Coffmans in possession of the postmaster in Bagwell, Texas).
"Coffman Family
Those who wish complete records of the earlier proven generations will find
them available in Alabama archives, especially those of Limestone County,
Alabama. In the interest of space, only an outline of older families is
included.
{1} David Coffman Sr.
Born @ 1750 in Pennsylvania. Died in 1835, Limestone County, Alabama, place
of burial has never been found. His wife's name is though to be Elizabeth.
His parents probably were John and Barbara (Martin) Coffman who moved from
Pennsylvania to Virginia.
David Coffman was issued a land grant in what is now Tenn. on Feb. 1, 1785.
He ,,,,continues,,,,."
Vicki, I hope this helps some.

I am providing this additional information to complement my previous
posting (Re: David Harmon Coffman) regarding JACOB COFFMAN (1777) and is
taken form the book "Coffman Family Tree".
LOVELL COFFMAN is the first child of JACOB and CATHRYN HOWARD.
"LOVELL COFFMAN (born Aug. 22, 1800) married CATHRYN HOWARD (born 1801,
d. 1884).
their children:
JAMES COFFMAN II, born Sept. 1, 1821.
LIZA COFFMAN, born May 22, 1823.
NANCY COFFMAN, born 1825.
INFANT, born 1827.
SEABERN JOSEPH COFFMAN, born Jan. 8, 1828.
MARTHA JANE COFFMAN, born June 9, 1830.
WILLIAM WASHINGTON COFFMAN, born Aug. 18, 1832.
ANDREW JACKSON COFFMAN, born Jan. 1, 1835.
AMANDA COFFMAN, born May 1, 1837.
MARY FRANCES COFFMAN, born Aug. 1, 1839.
JACOB WARREN COFFMAN, born Dec. 1, 1842.
--------------OUR ANCESTORS--------------
LOVELL COFFMAN, first child of Jacob Coffman, was born in North
Carolina; was married to Cathryn Howard Nov. 16, 1820, in Tennessee, who
was Holland Dutch. They moved to Decatur, Ala. where possibly all of
their children were born, later moving to Texas with his family while is
was yet a Republic --- about 1834 or 1835............."
It seems unusual for so many to be born on the 1st. of the month.
Lovell settled a 320 acre place near Bagwell, Red River, Texas (copy of
the deed). My mother, his great grand daughter through Seabern, was
born on this the "Coffman Place".

From a book in my possession: "The Coffman Family Tree" by Sarah Adelaide
(Coffman) Phillips. Feb. 1941.
" In my research, and through the kindness of the descendants of James
Coffman I, we are told that in 1935 the Coffmans emigrated to Germany from
the Island of Sicily, lived there over a long period of time, became
dissatisfied then went to England, and later came over to America with
William Penn and his Quakers. I am told that there were three brothers and
their families emigrating to America, who came through Pennsylvania to
Virginia; then to Idaho, Indiana and North Carolina. Some moved off down
the Shenandoah valley to Eastern Kentucky, Tennesse and Alabama. Jacob
Coffman, whose father's name was Micheral, was born Feb. 23, 1777; was a
pioneer emigrant, a Primitive Baptist preacher and a full blood German. We
have no record of Jacob Coffman's wife other than her maiden name was a Miss
Lovell, and that Jacob Coffman was married in 1799 according to the records
in an old Bible belonging to Lovell Coffman I, which, by the way, with my
father's Bible, won second place in our "Old Bible Contest" in 1935 at
Detroit, Texas. The first was dated 1824, and the latter 1847.
The original spelling of our family name (Coffman) was Kongphmann."
A penciled comment in my copy has the spelling as Kougphmann.
Part of the lineage from the book that may be of interest to you Vicki is as
follows:
" Section A
JACOB COFFMAN AND WIFE'S DESCENDANTS
LOVELL COFFMAN, born Aug. 22, 1880. Our ancestor.
JAMES COFFMAN I, born March 14, 1802.
MARYON COFFMAN, born Nov. 30, 1803.
FRANKY COFFMAN, born Aug. 25, 1805.
DAVID COFFMAN, born Sept. 19, 1808.
JANE COFFMAN, born June 3, 1809.
ELIZABETH COFFMAN, born Jan 1, 1811.
SAVANAH COFFMAN, born Jan 31, 1813.
ADAH COFFMAN, born Jan. 1, 1817.
LUIZA COFFMAN, born Jan. 1, 1817 (Adah and Luiza were twins)
Polly Coffman married Dec. 2, 1827. No other record of her is available."
My Coffman lineage is currently the main focus of my family history
efforts. There seems to be a lost of misinformation around about the
lineage. I plan to develop a web site that will that will in part include
my Coffman Family. Also I am working to get permmission to publish the
"Coffman Family Tree" on that web site. I hope this posting gets things
going on this mail list!

Hi William,
The book you mention sounds very interesting. Have you any idea where I
might buy a copy?
My oldest ancestor, Jacob COFFMAN, reportedly was born ca 1749 and raised
his family of 4 boys and 4 girls in the Fayette-Lancaster County area of
Pennsylvania. I have found nothing more about him and his children
except for my third Great Grandfather Henry COFFMAN, who moved to
Harrison Co., (W)VA ca 1800. He married Elizabeth ROBINSON in Jan. 1804
and they had 10 children.
My Coffman family data may be viewed at:
http://www.citynet.net/personal/coffman
My nephew, who is both a Pastor and a commercial artist, designed the
web site and posted my Coffman Family data to the site (including some
old photos, a few biographies, and a couple of newsletters).
Please let me know if you can add any information to the family of Jacob
COFFMAN (particularly the names of his parents, wife, and/or children).
Thanks.

I am still in the early stages of my search, and am very interested in the
Coffman family books that have been discussed. Please forgive my ignorance,
but are these titles still available? Are there specialty stores that sell
family history books?
My Coffman family is from Texas and prior to that, Alabama.
Thanks for the help!

Hi to all,
I want to get in on this... I need more info... proof.... documents on
my Coffman line.
I have info that my oldest Coffman was John Nicholas b abt. 1710 in
Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. He md. Mary Wiscover.
Now one record says they were md. in Germany and some of their children
were also born there. If this is true, then John could not have been
born in Va.
I have they had 10 children. One of which was Harman or Harmon, or even
Hirman.. He was born in about 1761, in Shenandoah Valley Va. which with
the dates of the childrens birth and the dates of parents birth, does
not compute. Their 1st. child was suppose to have been born in 1760 and
their last in 1770. John Nicholas died Nov 30, 1770 in Shenandoah Valley
Virginia.
I think most of this info above, was taken from the book,
Kauffman/Coffman Lineage book by Charles Fahs Kauffman written in 1940.
And I am told you can not buy the book any longer..
Now Harmon md. Martha Hickman Nov 27, 1798 in Frederick Co. Virginia.
they had 10 children. Harmon died May 27 1837, in Jefferson Co. Tn. I do
have record of his estate settlement. So I do know his death date is
about correct. Martha died after 1840 in Jefferson Co. Va. But here
again, Look at the dates. He was born in 1761, md. in 1798???
Not this brings me to their first child, John (Henry?) Coffman, born abt
1800, Green Co. Tennessee. See this does not match up with Harmon's
records.. any way his wife was Feriby. No md. record has been found on
them.
They moved to Jackson Co. Alabama and their first child was born there
in about 1828. They also bought land there and then sold it moving to
Mo. then came back and was on the 1840 census there. Then in late 1840's
they moved to Montgomery co. Arkansas. Were they got more land, Feriby
died in about 1855, John md. again to Sarah Ramsey, she does not file
the md. till after John died in 1858. There is an estate settlement...
arguement. Two of the sons, John and James are decd' before the
settlement is over with. Minor child Mary Ann, about 8 when John died,
just disappears...
Is there any one out there, that has any info on this family line. As
you can see there is alot of questions...
Thank you.. Cathy in Oregon
I would be very much interested in learning more about the Family books
on the Coffman families. How does one go about getting a hold of them.
Where are they published or who has them for sale.
Thanks in advance for the information.
Carla
PS. My great-great grandfather was John Coffman (wife Mary from Ohio)
from PA and moved to Iowa and raised his children. Born about 1830.

Hello everyone:
I'm trying to find out the parentage and wife of David Harmon COFFMAN,
born about 1750 in Pennsylvania. He later moved to Tennessee and then to
Limestone Co., Alabama. He had 12 children, 11 of whom had children of
their own. So he has a lot of descendants.
I've seen more than one set of parents for him, and more than one wife
for him (though I think he was married only once).
One wife I've seen him married to is Mary Ann LOVELL.
Does anyone have the facts (or near-facts) of his parents and wife?
Thanks.

but does give
a grandson named LOVELL it is very incomplete traces some of them to TX
fromGreen Co. TN and says Davids Will June 12,1833 was filed in Limestone Co.
Alabama.
It is not my line , my line is Henry Coffman of Washington Co. MD who died abt
