I have research notes from a family member who worked on Coffmans about
two decades ago. They are quite sketchy and the folks involved are
either deceased or have no recollection of where or why this was
written. If anyone recognizes these folks, please let me know:
1 John Coffman (xxx - 1781) W VA
only known child: Jacob
2 Jacob Coffman (xxx - Apr 20, 1807)
md Barabara (possibly Myers?)
of W VA; had 6 children
3 John Coffman b PA or KY? died age 82
John was the youngest child of Jacob?
Sacramento, McLean Co, KY
(don't know what this location is for)
4 John Franklin Coffman
(8 Jan 1805 - 29 Sep 1884)
md Eliz. Cobb
5 Joseph?
had 7 children
3rd child was Thomas of Texas
This is everything the note says. No source or anything. There is also
a family tradition that the name was spelled Kaufman.
Thank you,
Dawn Crowley
I am searching for the link to my
Kauffmans and may have found it in John
KAUFFMAN b. about 1783 in PA
Father Hans or John KAUFFMAN (1751 - 18
Apr 1804) m. Mary Anna (unknown) (1755-7
Dec 1837) buried in Catholic Cemetery,
Elizabethtown, PA
John KAUFFMAN is said to have had 8 or
10 children and moved to Ohio.
Does anyone have any information on this
line ? I especially need information on
WHERE he moved to in Ohio, who he might
have married and the names of his
children.
Thank you & Happy Hunting!

Peter Coffman (b. 1 Jan 1807) m. Dec 1833 Botetourt Co., VA Sallie (Sarah)
Obenshain (b. 1808 VA, d. 26 Feb 1862). Peter was a blacksmith and farmer.
Had issue.
I am looking for help with my Sarah COFFMAN. I have no info on her,
other than she was the wife of James SEARS of Cloucester, VA. James was
b. 1720, married Sarah in 1745 and died bef. 12 Aug. 1783 in Hampshire
Co., VA. They had 4 children that I know of: John Lewis, b. abt. 1750 in
VA., died abt. 14 Apr. 1821 in IN, and married a Judith. Catherine, b.
in Hampshire Co., died abt. 1786 in Knox Co., TN. Mary, also born in
Hampshire Co and died in Sevier Co., TN and finally William. This is all
I know of this Coffman connection to the Sears family. I have some
sources that say James and Sarah were not married. So, I need help with
not only deciding if she was his wife or not, but also any other info
that I can get. I was referred by Kevin Scoggins, who noted that he had
seen something earlier about the Sears/Coffman family. I would
appreciate any help or info that can be provided. Thank you, Don
Williams.
