Hello,
I don't know what the rules are on this List, but there is a "Family Bible"
up for bid on an on-line auction place, where the description mentions

Collaboration Advances Internet-Based Open Source Family History
Resource
SALT LAKE CITY, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Neumont University today
announced the development of PhpGedView (PGV), an Internet-based
genealogy
program through the collaboration of students and instructor, John
Finlay.
Anyone can use the technology for free to setup a genealogy
website, edit
data online and collaborate with relatives working on the same family
research. Integrated into school curriculum, the PGV development is
illustrative of the ongoing integration of Neumont's project-based
learning
in its accelerated Bachelors degree program.
"Neumont students are immersed in real-world projects that stretch
their computer development and teamwork skills," said Neumont
Senior Vice
President of Academics, Eve Andersson. "Many of our corporate
collaborative
projects are confidential, but the PhpGedView project demonstrates
the kind

Hello,
I'd like to repost my interest in learning about the extended family of
George E. COFFIN, b~1842 MA, and his wife, Esther CORKILL, b~1865 ENG.
From census information, I believe they may have had 10 children born to
them, but only 2 or 3 lived to adulthood ! The only one I know about so
far is:
Mary E. COFFIN, b~1885, who married Oscar F. WILLIAMS on Nantucket in 1905.
In the 1910 census, they had children: Harold WILLIAMS, 3, Florence
WILLIAMS, 2, and Chester WILLIAMS, 4 mos.
They probably had more children !
Esther CORKILL was the younger sister of my great-grandmother, Mary E.
(CORKILL) LEWIS, of Nova Scotia, then Stoneham, MA. There were 5 CORKILL
siblings who were "British Home Children." They were in the "Liverpool
Sheltering Homes" in England, and then were "shipped to Canada" in 1874.
Each went to a different home. Mary married J. Stanley LEWIS in Truro,
NS, in 1879, and in 1881 they migrated to MA. They raised 13 children in
Stoneham, MA. Julia CORKILL married Charles McNUTT and they had 10
children, and they remained in Truro, NS.*
A little background is: George E. COFFIN was reportedly the son of
Edward C. COFFIN, b1805, and Olive G. ELDRIDGE of Nantucket.
And, thanks very much to other researchers, both past and present (on
Boards and Lists), I have been told this is the line for George COFFIN:
Tristam, James, James, John, Joseph, Hezekiah, Elijah, Andrew,
Edward C., George .....
I do not yet know whether George had a son who lived to adulthood !
From census information and SSDI information, I believe that the WILLIAMS
family might have remained living on Nantucket !
I would like to find out whether George and Esther COFFIN had another child
who lived to adulthood and married !
Thank you for your time.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
*The 3 CORKILL sisters had 2 younger brothers, only 5 and 3 when they came
to Canada.
John CORKILL married later in life, and remained in NS, but did not have
children.
Robert CORKILL was still single when in his 30's, and I don't know about him
after that !
FYI:
1860 Census: Edward and Olive are in Nantucket with their son, George,
18, and daughter, Martha, 14.
(I understand Martha died shortly after that.)
1870 Census: Edward and Olive are in Nantucket with their son, George,
27.
1880 Census: Mrs. Olive, widow, and her son, George, 37, are in
Nantucket.
1881 Canadian Census: George, 39, is living in the home of my
great-grandparents in Truro, NS.
(In 1882, George married my great-grandmother's
sister; she was about 20.)
.. I believe the couple moved to Nantucket
shortly after that !
Thanks Bonnie, my little data and the stuff you supplied agreed.
At least I have a positive start1
Don

Thank you for participating in our list. Your participation is valuable.
Here's another helpful tip from the listowner: Got a few minutes?
Now would be a good time to review the list welcome letter. A good
place to begin would be the items on quoting in the Guidelines and

I have a LEONARD COFFIN who married FRANCES KILBORN (maiden name) about late
1920s - 1930s. I believe she was living in Buffalo with him, per 1930
census and city directories. Also confirmed the address with the death record of
Frances' mother who was living with then and died there.
Suspect there was a divorce, because I can track Leonard for a while in the
same 'neighborhood' in city directories. She went on to marry another
person.
What Coffin family did he come from?

An interesting newcomer to genealogy magazines is Internet
Genealogy published by Moorshead Magazines. I have to admit that I
was skeptical when I heard of the plans to publish an entire
magazine devoted to Internet genealogy. It's a topic that is
already well-represented in other mainstream genealogy magazines,
including another magazine from the same publisher, Family
Chronicle. I was also afraid it might be a bit too basic, or
consist of too many links and not enough content, to be worth yet
another subscription (I subscribe to pretty much every genealogy
magazine too). The first issue, available on newstands now, proved
me wrong, however.

Hi Tiny,
I have a George COFFIN indirectly on my family tree, and he was "almost" a
Canadian COFFIN. He left his family home on Nantucket to go up to Nova
Scotia. He seems to have only been there a few years, if that. He was
living in my great-grandparents' home in 1881, and married my
great-grandmother's sister soon after !
I don't know when they went back to Nantucket, but "guess" it was shortly
after the wedding !
Also, I have a small interest in the "medical issue" part of family-trees !
Because of all your COFFIN marriages, I am curious whether more health
problems show up among their descendants !
On my mother's side, her great-grandparents from Quebec Province were
first-cousins ! On my father's side, his great-grandparents from
northern Maine were first-cousins. And, coming down to my parents'
generation, we had most life-threatening health problems! My generation
has a lot of "autoimmune disorders."

Thanks, Violet & Bonnie for your kind offer to help, believe me I need it, I
am just starting
on the Coffin side of my family after a 5 year workout on my Lumpkin side of
the family.
Calvin COFFIN B-1835, NC married Sarah JOHNSON B-1836, NC.
Elias Clark COFFIN B-1869 Randolph Co., NC married Annie Lee McLean B-1866
Randolph Co., NC.
William E. COFFIN B-1897, NC married Peterava Gibbs B-1899, NC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, my family was not a close family
and there are
simply no records to start with.

Harold (Jack) Bliss/Dolly Alexander
(Me) Grace Elizabeth Bliss/ Russell Smith
My only Coffin is Charles Coffin.
Fought in the Civil War as a young man.
Was French from France (he may have been from Quebec).
Met my great, great grandmother on his way back home after the war. (didn't
stick around)
The story goes that he later moved to Council Bluffs, IA
There is a Charles Coffin listed in the Council Bluffs census records that
may be a match for this Charles Coffin, but the only way to be sure it's the
same guy is to match any remaining photographs. This may be like finding a
needle in a haystack.
Our family was left with one 1" x 1" tin type that was hidden behind another
tin type. We wouldn't have found it except the photographer that I left the
'other' tin type with took the frame apart before taking a picture of it and
he found it. Luckily the ancestor who hid it left a scrap of paper with it
with his name on it.
