I saw a name on the above database, that I have been looking for DECATUR
COFFIN, PA, but I'm not subscribed to Ancestry.com, would anyone be able
to help me know what this record is? I hope in the future to be able
to subscribe to Ancestry, I was excited to
find this name it has been very hard to find anything about him, he was
my great great grandfather, most of what I'm finding about my fathers
relatives has been sad, well if anyone can help please let me know.
Thank you
I have Matilda VESTAL as the spouse of Amos STEWART. I note on a posting by Flora Newby that his spouses were Matilde HADLEY and Melissa E. MILLS. Was Matilda VESTAL one of these?

Melissa and Rosalie,
I am personally acquainted with the Registrar of ADEAW and I too have seen
the approved list of witches with the name Mary Coffin. I didn't pursue
which Mary Coffin it was inasmuch as I was relatively certain it was not
'my' Mary coffin. I am quite certain
the Mary Coffin who married John Gardner and subsequently died at Nantucket
is not the Mary Coffin in question.

Dee,
I have looked at the site you mentioned, and found no reference to Sarah
Coffin. There are plenty of Sarah's, though, so I assume one of them was
born a Coffin. Which one?
Thanks,
Kathy

Ottumwa Iowa. Married Nancy Troxell in 1863 they had
one child Ida May Coffin born 1863. He was not
heard of after 1864 or so. He probably had another
family.... Maybe in Ill I believe he was son of
William and Sally Coffin they lived in DeKalb Ill in
1850's. Please contact me Glenda glekay(a)yahoo.com

Coffeen appears to be a variant spelling of Coffen which is a variant
spelling of Coffin. The information was found in searching the FTM CD
Marriage Index: Massachusetts, 1633-1850. There were only two entries
for that name variant in Mass, about a dozen for Coffen....
There were no spellings of Coffeen in the NEHGR CD everyname index, as
the authors probably translated it to Coffen or Coffin, a practice they
did for most name variants.
