I'm fairly new to this and looking for some information.
My husband's dad had told us that his father George Coffield and his brother were orphans and were adopted by an unmarried aunt after their mother Josephine died. I guess there was a stepdad of the orphaned kids but he didn't want them. I can confirm the father of George was Walter, and Walter Coffield's father was also named George Coffield. After some digging, George (the older) is one of the sons of James F Coffield and a woman by the name of Annie/Barbery Anselman of Wurttemburg. (I'm wondering if the Annie became a nickname that was short for her maiden name).
It seems that they died after the 1900 census. Does anyone know where I could find information about James F Coffield's parents? Or Barbra Anselman's parents? Much of their lives were spent around Darke County, Ohio.
Thanks so much!
