Miss Cordelia Weber purchased an 1862 Bible in a shop in Milwaukee several years ago. When she "downsized" her apartment, her family emptied a storage locker where the Bible was located. Helen McGuire saved the Bible from the "dispose heap." Helen had the Bible, with loose pages and four sections torn away from the back and covers, restored in the Coffield family Bible. The Coffield's were originally from Belmont, OH. Thomas and Isabella Sharp Coffield, listed in the old Bible, are buried in the Belmont Cemetery.
Helen McGuire notified Cheryl J Skinner, President of the Chapter about the Coffield Family Bible. She wanted to know if the Belmont County Chapter/OGS was interested in housing the Bible. Helen copied the family history to group sheets so the Bible wouldn't be in opened.
The Coffield family Bible was generously donated to the Belmont County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society by Helen McGuire. The society is grateful that the Bible has been returned to Belmont County.
