Hi to everyone. I have a question for you Cal, is the BOYD DNA testing on
your website? My brother-in-law is a BOYD and then too I have a 4th-6th
great-grandmother, (don't have my file in front of me to find out how far
back she goes), that has BOYD as her maiden name. Thanks for the answers in
advance :)

I am looking for an Edith Coffey, age approximately 72, of Kentucky. She
married David Woods and gave her children up for adoption. Does anyone have
this Edith Coffey in any Coffey lines?
Hello
This has been sent to me by Barbara Coffey because she thought we may have
connections.
My great grandfather was Perry L. Coffey b. in N.C and died in rural
Gainseville, Mo. He was shot while plowing his field on June 5, 1885.
His father (my great great grandfather )was Cleveland Coffey.
I don't know of the connection but it DOES seem strongly possible.
What else do you have?
I am in Sacramento, Ca. 1etadan(a)attbi.com

Dear Cousins,
Is there any interest in starting a Coffey Y-DNA
project?
In June I started a DNA project for the BOYD name.
It is going nicely and interest is growing.
Genetic genealogy or gen/gen is the latest in high tech
tools for family research.
Only men carry the Y-DNA that is passed down the line
from father to son ad infinitum. This makes it possible to
to prove or disprove a family connection without the
paper trail of traditional genealogy. This by no means
will replace what we have been doing but will be just
another tool for our use.
The project would be open to all men with COFFEY
as their surname. Sorry ladies but you just don't have
Y-DNA and doing mtDNA studies is more expensive
and complicated.
Making a genetic connection can help focus your research
in the right direction.
Setting up the project with the lab I selected was very easy
and managing it has not been difficult either. The best part is
that it costs nothing to get it going.
Participants pay to have their DNA tested when they send
their sample back to the lab and there is a substantial discount
in the price by going through the project.
The lab I selected after researching several has the best
prices, high level of privacy and the best access to your
own DNA information. It is specifically set up for gen/gen
and nothing else.
What is needed to get started is a project manager. If more than one
person is interested maybe a committee can be formed to handle
different aspects such as ordering the kits, promotion etc.
I will help in anyway I can to get things going.

Dear Coffey Cousins,
I have been a member of this list for a number of years now
and I can tell you that the message traffic comes in cycles.
There will be almost nothing for a long period of time and
then suddenly there's an explosion of email.
So be patient if the traffic is slow we're due for a spurt
here soon. :)

Dear Tim
The test messages came through OK I also sent a test message to my cousin in
oz which was successful but what I can't understand is, when I fist joined
the Coffey list there were loads of messages and now it seems to have gone
dead, may be they are just communicating with each other.
Cheers Tom..
Hi:
Thought I would send the following information along and maybe someone out there has a family connection with my COFFEYS of Ireland.
I am seeking information on the COFFEY family from Ireland. At this point, I am
not sure exactly where my Grandmother, ELLEN COFFEY, b. Oct. 1863, emigrated from in Ireland. Ellen's parents names were: MARTIN COFFEY & BRIDGET WELSH, I believe that there was a brother, JAMES COFFEY.
Ellen emigrated to NYC sometime in the 1880s and married SIMON PETER BACON, whose family was from Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath.
Does any of this information sound familiar to anyone else seeking COFFEYS from Ireland ?
Best regards,
Betty Lou Garcia
