Are all of these his children? The 1870 does not give relationships to the
ones listed as to the head of the household, I am floored by how many are
listed. Also, on some peoples list there is a Cola (female), I have trouble
with believing they would name a child Cola...I think it's Dorah, listed
below. I have seen the one that looks like Col* but who knows. Wendy -
descendant of David P. COFFEY.

AR
Coffey, David P., 63, male, white, Minister, 1000, 900, Tennessee

Margaret, 28, f, w, TN (my line, also named her daughter Dora)
Josephine, 26, f, w, TN
Samuel B., m, w, TN
Mary D., f, w, 19 or 14, TN
Sarah An(n), f, w, 17, TN (nickname is Sallie)
George, m, w, 17, PA (where'd he come from?)
George H., m, w, 12, AR (see same question above)
David N., m, w, 10, AR
Dorah H., f, w, 12, AR
Charles D., m, w, 10, AR
David, m, w, 8, AR
Anyway, I wanted to share this with other COFFEY researchers out there. I
have some more children that are not living with them in this census.
Donna,
Trying this again as the first one rejected to me.
While the name Winters rings a bell with me -
I do not show him as being a spouse of Hannah COFFEY born 6 Oct 1833 - died
29 Mar 1926.
She married Joel THOMPSON who died a POW in the Civil War. Some years
later she married Jeremiah LAND.
She had 11 children. I'll review more of my data to see where Winters
shows up.

In a message copied below, the two of you have made reference to the
marriage of Hannah Boone and Smith Coffey and their son, MORGAN COFFEY,
born 1809.
I am interested in the children of Morgan and Elizabeth Day.
In paticular, I am interested in the spouses and descendants of their
daughter:
Hannah R. Coffee, born about 10/06/1836.
I believe she is my g-g-g- grandmother and was married to WILLIAM WINTERS.
Probably, had more than one marriage. Have also, noted her last name as LAND.
I have their names on certain certificates and the locations match with our
family history and background. I just need some additional sources to help
to verify this matter and connection to the BOONE family.
I am also interested in learning of any NATIVE AMERICAN blood in the family.
With high hopes that you will be able to help me I want to say
Thank you very much,

I don't know if this will concern any of you or not but many of the Coffey's
in western N.C. are descendants of Morgan Coffey, born 1809, (my great-great
grandfather) who was the son of Smith Coffey and Hannah Boone Coffey. Hannah
was the great niece of Daniel Boone having descended from Daniel's brother
Israel. Hannah's father was Jesse Boone, son of Israel. This info is from
the Cherokee County Heritage-North Carolina, Vol. I. Betty Kilpatrick Mintz
Please count me in. I would love to have a copy also.

Hello, Recently I found a booklet called The Coffey Clan from 1690 by Frank
R. Moore. It appears to have been printed in 1969. I can't find a publisher
on the title page so I think it might have been a private printing. I don't
know how widely it was distributed. I am not interested in selling it, but
thought that it might be available at genealogy libraries and is certainly
worth a look. There are photocopies of documents and photos throughout, but
there is no index. Sue
I quote from page 5......"The information given by both John L. Coffey
and Dr. L. H. Coffey agree that John Coffey and wife Jane Graves Coffey had
eight children--James, Edward, Thomas, Reuben, Benjamin, William, Elizabeth
and Winnefred. The two children, Thomas and James were the two brothers our
great grand father Rev. Achilles Coffey wrote about....." and it continues
with a quote from the Rev. Achilles about when these two men immigrated to
the US.
It continues on page 6...."The 'first" James was born in Ireland the
year 1726. He was twenty years old when he married Elizabeth Cleveland in
Prince Edward County, Virginia........" They had 11 children. He was a
Baptist minister and served in American Revolution.
