Hi Coffey Cousins,
I came across an interesting site on my BOYD-L
list.
www.gencircles.com
I put in COFFEY and came up with 6600+ entries.
I find that I get better results by using just the name,
yr of birth and place of birth.
If I put more info in I don't get a match even though
the information is there when the record is displayed.
I didn't find my COFFEYs but I did find my BOYD line
and two other family ties. So I'm ridin kinda high this
morning.

Dear List Members,
One of the most important lessons we can learn in
genealogy is how to write a GOOD query.
I have seen and received something like this:
My great grandfather was a COFFEY. What can you
tell me about my COFFEY line.
The answer is NOTHING. There is no information to
identify your line of COFFEYs.
I have found a web page or two that will help you write a
good query.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~mistclai/sample-queries.html
or
http://www.rootsweb.com/~tngenny1/how.html
The first page is geared a to writing queries for the GenWeb
project but has good examples of poor and good queries.
The other is for writing queries for publication in print sources.
I recommend studying both pages for a good overview of
writing queries. A well written query will get more responses.
Yours Aye,
Cal

Does anyone have either of the following two Coffey's in their line?
1) Christopher born in Ireland in 1830 and came to the US in 1866.
2) Patrick born in England and came to the US in 1877.
Both of these men lived in Scranton, PA at one time.

Design Software has a good cemetery extraction software program.
Not sure of their website address, probably something like
http://designsoftware.com
I tried it and it is a Hungarian company, not the right one. Try CyndisList.
If that does not work, try checking http://CyndisList.com under software or
computer programs.
Good Luck,
