I don't remember if I am subscribed to the list or not. I would like to be.
I am searching for Tole/Joel/Cole Coffey who fathered my grandfather, Wm
Marion Holt b 4/7/1837 Whitley Co., KY. My great grandmother Mary Polly Holt
b 11/1816 was Marion's mother. For some reason she and Coffey didn't marry.
She married Jackson Strunk Aug 1839 in Whitley Co., KY and grandfather was
shown on 1850 Whitley Co. Marsh Creek census as Marion Strunk, age 13 in the
household of Jackson Strunk and Mary.
Mary & Jackson Strunk had 6 children. Artimissey Strunk married George
Sellers/Sellars. And Mahydah/Mahulda Strunk married Frank Sellers/Sellars.
The Sellars men were sons of Henry Sellars & Mary Ann Coffey who married in
1842 Whitley Co., KY. Mary Ann Coffey was a sister to the Coffey who
fathered my grandfather Marion.
I probably never will find the Coffey who should have been my great
grandfather, but I still want to look. I hope this qualifies me to remain on
your list and receive your mail.
Thank you.
Joyce Holt Taylor, should have been Joyce Coffey Taylor
Mary & Coffey would have been together around July 4, 1836 as grandfather was
born April 7/1837.

Many thanks to those of you who responded when I asked for information
relative to my GG grandparents Simeon F. and Lavina (Coffey) Combs. I
believe I have finally identified which Joel Coffey was the father of
Lavina. I'm fairly certain Lavina's father Joel was a son of Nebuzaraden
Coffey born about 1757, and grandson of Chesley Coffey. Nebuzaraden and
Hayes Coffey were witnesses at the wedding of Lavina's parents.
Does anyone have information on Nebuzaraden Coffey and his children? This
information would be a great help in learning more about my Coffey
ancestors. I have a fair amount of Coffey information I'd be willing to
share. Below is an Outline Genealogy Tree on what I have on Nebuzaraden
Coffey and his ancestors. Would you mind assisting me in adding information
about this family?

Do you have a Joel Coffey who possibly had a son with Mary Polly Holt. My
grandfather Wm Marion Holt b 4/7/1837 Whitley Co., KY was illegitimate son of
Joel/Cole/or Tole Coffey. That Coffey was the brother of Mary Ann Coffey who
married Henry Sellars in Whitley Co., KY 1842.
Joyce Holt Taylor
I have a Joel Coffey, I believe from Nelson County, VA somewhere in a set of family data sheets I was given. This was in with one (if not more) of the Fitzgerald groups. Many of the Coffey, Campbell, Carr and Fitzgerald lines came from Nelson and Amherst counties after the Revolutionary War.
I'll try to dig through my paperwork this week and will send to you what I have, if I can find it. In the meantime, check out the descendants of Edmund, Edward and/or John Coffey, and I'm sure you'll find him there. You might also want to check the Campbells, Carrs and Fitzgeralds.
Good luck!

This week I viewed the 1810 Census for Adair County, Kentucky looking for
ancestors of my GG Grandmother Lavina Coffey. On her marriage certificate
it stated her father was Joel Coffey. I did find a Joel Coffey on this
census, but don't know for sure which Joel he is (i.e. who his father and
mother were). I also found 12 other Coffey's enumerated on this census.
I'm asking that if one of these Coffey members is your relative you share
information about that individual, since I hope that may lead to information
about my Joel Coffey. I'd surely appreciate your help.
