I'm a descendant of Marvel and Rachel Boone Coffey. In all the
copies I have of original documents for this Marvel he is NEVER
referred to as Asbury Marvel Coffey--only Marvel. There is an Asbury
Marvel Coffey who I think may have been the first Marvel's nephew (no
proof of this) who became quite prominent in Kansas. The Lavina
Coffey, born 1821, is a sister to my gg-grandmother, Elizabeth Coffey
Petty. Have you tried the Coffey Clearinghouse web page. I don't
have the address offhand, but it should come up in a web search.

I've been researching my family for more than 25 years, but just a few years
ago learned my GG Grandmother was Lavina Coffeey born about 1804 in Kentucky
or possibly in extreme southern Illinois. I haven't been able to prove who
the parents of Lavina were even though I have two other Coffey's named
Lavina. I've come across an Asbury "Marvel" and Rachel (Boone) Coffey who
had a daughter named Lavina Coffey born about 1821.
Postings on the Internet have this Asbury "Marvel" Coffey born about 1790
with two sets of parents. That is two seperate people have differing
information. I need assistance in (1) determining the parents of my Lavina
Coffey born about 1804 and (2) determining with some assurance who the
parents of Asbury "Marvel" Coffey are. My reasoning is that Asbury could
have had a sister named Lavina and that is how he came up with the name for
his daughter. I'd sincerely appreciate any assistance you can provide.
