I'm looking for the parents of Margaret Coffey. I know her father was John
Coffey, but have no clue as to who her mother was. Margaret married John
McWilliams Feb 22, 1781. Thanks

Dear Carole and anyone else with Coffey interests,
I believe the listings you have pertain to marriages occurring in the
U.S.. However I am writing this as a long shot that someone out there
will be able to help in my stalled research.
The individual I am researching is:
Michael Patrick COFFEY, for whom I have no birth or marriage date, nor
his wife's name
1. was a Conductor in the Ordinance Dept., at Bangalore, India.
whose military unit in the British army I do not know.
2. believed later to have been a military pensioner.
3. Had at least one child - daughter - Mary Ellen COFFEY b. Dec 18 1872.
who reported that she was born in the Isle of Man.
Mary Ellen (married A John Samuel Anderson) became a Matron of the
Victoria Zennana Hospital, in Hyderabad, India; unfortunately records
which may have been helpful were destroyed in the floods of 1905(8) in
Hyderabad.
Any help would be gratefully received.

LOOKUP!
I have a list of over 130 COFFEE/EY KY marriages from the Marriage Index
1728-1850. There are a few late 1700 marriages, but most of them are in
the 1800's. I will be glad to do lookups if you send the name you are
looking for. Unfortunately, the counties are listed - just the spouse and
date of marriage.

There is a new virus, "Worm.Explore", which is transmitted through an email
attachment and which is very dangerous.
If you receive an email which has the attachment "zipped_files.exe" DO NOT
DOUBLE CLICK ON THIS FILE TO RUN IT. It will destroy vital files on your
hard drive and on the network.
If you have already run this file, do not turn your computer off. Call
tech support at once for help.
A more detailed description is below.
HOW WORM.EXPLORE WORKS
The worm -- first discovered in Israel -- enters as an email attachment
with the name "zipped_files.exe." Its deceptively friendly message reads:
Hi "name of recipient"!
I received your e-mail and I shall send you a reply ASAP.
Till then, take a look at the attached zipped docs.
Bye.
Experts say you should delete it without opening it, and then empty the
deleted items file.
If it executes, the worm copies itself to the windows system directory with
the filename "Explore.exe" and then modifies the WIN.INI file so the
program executes each time Windows starts.
It then uses the infected computer's email client to harvest email
addresses in order to propagate itself.
But behind the scenes, it plays real mean: searching C through Z drives and
selecting crucial file extensions and rendering them useless by making them
0 bytes long. Result: Non-recoverable data or computer system failure.

In response to Dianne's query re. Lewis Coffey (1777-1853) family:
Do you have the information from Marvin D Coffey's book? His first
supplement provides names and dates for Edmond & Dianah's 12 children and
references a book by Gene Brewington, "Edmund A Coffey and Some of His
Descendants."

The story of my family is that when William
came home to Somerville, Ala from the war
he couldn't get a job so he decided to go to
Texas and see what he could find. He left Ala
Some time after 1880 walking to Texas.
Then around 1885 or 86 the family
recevied a letter from a farmer telling
them that he had found Mr Coffee in his fence
row very sick. He lived long enough to give
the farmer his address before he died of
pneumonia (ms). The farmer said he had
enough money on him to bury him but
that was all. The family then either formed
a wagon train or caught a train and came
to Texas to try and find his grave. They
setteled in or around Dexter,Texas for
a while then moved into Oklahoma. They
ended up in and around Tishomingo,
Madill and Ardmore, Ok in Indian Territory.
>From there the family moved all over
the state. I know there were Coffee/Coffey's in
Texas before he arrived there, but I don't
know when or where they came from are if they are related..

With all the new list subscribers, this is a good time to list queries.
My last "proved" COFFEY is Albert G. Coffey, born 1825 (census shows Alabama,
but this does not fit rest of info too well) lived in Russell County at least
1850 on. Married Elizabeth Goodhugh 1st, then Matilda Grider Marlow. I
especially need proof that Albert was son of George W. COFFEY who was son of
Cleavland COFFEY. Evidence points that way, but don't have that one bit of
"proof" yet. Also interested in connecting with anyone researching Albert's
descendants or contacts with George W. line.

The story of my family is that when William
came home to Somerville, Ala from the war
he couldn't get a job so he decided to go to
Texas and see what he could find. He left Ala
Some time after 1880 walking to Texas.
Then around 1885 or 86 the family
recevied a letter from a farmer telling
them that he had found Mr Coffee in his fence
row very sick. He lived long enough to give
the farmer his address before he died of
pneumonia (ms). The farmer said he had
enough money on him to bury him but
that was all. The family then either formed
a wagon train or caught a train and came
to Texas to try and find his grave. They
setteled in or around Dexter,Texas for
a while then moved into Oklahoma. They
ended up in and around Tishomingo,
Madill and Ardmore, Ok in Indian Territory.
>From there the family moved all over
the state. I know there were Coffee/Coffey's in
Texas before he arrived there, but I don't
Know when or where they came from.

I interested in any books published, also, that tell more about the Coffey-Powell lines than just names and dates.
