I think it is quite possible that there is a connection between my ancestor,
Rebecca Coffee, and your Mary Coffey, born 1793 in Lancaster County, South
Carolina. Rebecca was born in 1774 in South Carolina. There is no county named
in my records, but along with the papers I have (copied from a cousin) there is an
early map of Lancaster County. Rebecca married Robert Montgomery and had children
Hugh, John, Alex, Betsy, Peggy, Polly, and Jane. They moved to Tennessee sometime
after 1815 (Jane's date of birth) and later to Pontotoc County, Mississsippi.
They may have lived for a time in Lafayette County, Mississippi. Rebecca and Mary
could be aunt and neice. I don't know Rebecca's parents or siblings. I don't
know Robert's parents or siblings, either. All I have of background information
is that Robert was born either in South Carolina or on the Atlantic Ocean as the
family immigrated from Northern Ireland. He was the youngest of nine brothers.
Rebecca was of Welsh descent. I have long wanted more information. If any of
this fits your family records, please let me know. I would be most grateful.

Hello,
I am new to this list...I am trying to find information about Dicey Coffey,
born about 1812. She married George W. Wood in Nelson County, VA on November
24, 1845. Their daughter Cynthia Wood is my gg-grandmother. I have many
other Coffeys in my line and have been able to find info on almost all of
them, but none on her.
Any information would be so much appreciated! Thank you.
Blessings,
Denise Coffey

Cornell University has put the ENTIRE "War of the Rebellion" on the
internet!!! Over 60 volumes!!! It includes scanned images of reports,
correspondence, seizures of Southern property, etc. sent to the War
Dept. during the Civil War. It includes both Union and Confederate
accounts. It is in chronological order but there is no online index.
Many libraries have the index. Find the volume and page number for your
subject in the index at the library. Go to this website

and you're in business.
