Thank you for responding but I am pretty sure that I have no Keeling that I know of. Most of My family came into Kentucky and Tenn. Then they went to Oklahoma in the land rush. If I find on later down the road that we are connected I will contact you again. Thank you again for the info.

Ruthie Alvin KEELING is of my line. She was the d/o Alvin Newton Keeling. Alvin and my ggreatgrandfather Zachariah were brothers in Whitleyville. I would like to find some "breathing" (if you know what I mean) relatives of this line so I can get the current info on those alive, plus maybe luck out on an elusive family bible! Call me at 800-879-0089.
THanks!

This is all the information I have in the two Coffelt books. Nora E. (Millgate by previous marriage) b. 11/18/1889 Lived in Blaine, KS. 6/181908 (no children) (buried in Blaine, KS.) No death date on Lafayette's wife Rhoda. Lafayette enlisted in the cavalry (Union) 6/23/1863 from Monroe Co, IA. He contracted dysentery during the battle of Chickamauga while in the hospital. Discharged (8/13/1865). Lived in Red Oaks Junction, Montgomery Co, IA until 1880. Traveled for 2 months to the army hospital in Nashville, TN. so he could be evaluated and get pension. He was in very bad shape, thus taking so long (12/24/1874). He returned home 5/14/1875. He received $6.00 per month for pension. Paralyzed arm, intestinal problems the rest of his life. All of Lafayette's records are in the Washington DC archives. This information comes from the two books written by Joan and Robert Coffelt. From what I have read Lafayette wanted to farm more than anything but after the war left him useless !
to do farm work.
Sorry I could not be of more help.
Robert Coffelt
Enos Julian Coffelt was an ancestor of mine as he married my great aunt so I
am searching for any additional available information and pictures on him,
her and all
of his descendants. Patricia Condron Pfaffly. My e-mail is ppfaffly(a)cox.net
I am Pleasant Coffelt's gr-gr-grandaughter and a cousin and I were in
Pleasanton last year looking for Coffelts. We found the Coffelt
cemetery, and talked to a man that was kin to the Coffelts but I
haave forgotten his first name. H e worked at the city hall and told
us a lot about Wyatt's family but didn't seem to know a lot about
Pleasant or his family.
Chloe. Pleasant's second wife, was our gr-gr-grandmother. Her maiden
name was Crouch. We are trying to find when she and Pleasant died
and where they are buried.
I have that book about the Kaufelds and Coffelts in America. I've
found a lot of genealogy in it but not much about Pleasant.
Would love to have any information you can give me.

Robert, that was great information and thank you very much. You have a rich family history and it likely makes for great reading. I am delighted to meet a descendant of Sarah Evans-Martin and her daughter Rhoda J. Martin-Coffelt!
I found Rhoda's daughter Emma (Myrick) in the 1920 census in Marshall County Kansas:
Emma E. Millgate was age 51 born Iowa. She was recorded as a widow and a land lady of a boarding house. A son Robert Millgate age 34 and single (born Kansas) was also listed in her household.
Emma E. Millgate was the same Emma Myrick daughter of Edward Vinton and Rhoda J. (Martin) Myrick. She was listed as a minor/guardian on the Civil War Pension file card for her step father Lafayette Coffelt in 1897. She was also listed as step daughter of Lafayette in the 1880 census of Pottawatomie County, Kansas.
Do you know who Emma's husband was and whether or not Emma's halfsister Nora's husband Millgate, was related to Emma E's husband?
Emma E. Myrick also had a younger sister Sarah M. Myrick, do you have any information as to what happened to Sarah?
Do you have a death date and place for Rhoda?
Are you interested in Rhoda's MARTIN family? I have more information on her if you are interested. Do you know anything about Rhoda's EVANS line? I am stuck finding Sarah A. Evans-Martin's parents. Can you help me with that at all? I also have a few tidbits on E V Myrick. I am willing to share, let me know.
I wish I could afford to buy every genealogy compilation on every line I research, but I cannot. As much as I have enjoyed researching Lafayette's line, I am not related to it and cannot justify the purchase of the Coffelt book. It is not at our library either.
Have you obtained Lafayette's Civil War pension/service records? I will bet it makes for great reading. He was an interesting fellow.
Thank you for writing. I appreciate the information you have provided. Let me know if you have any questions.
Vicky
