I am wondering if your Jasper Coffelt might be a descendent of my
Coffelts? My great-great grandfather's name was Pleasant Coffelt and he
first married Clacy Ritchie, then later Chloe Crouch. This was in
Gasconade county, Missouri. He went there from Kentucky. He had several
siblings and four of them came to Missouri where one of the brothers
went to Texas as a missionary, then later to Bentonville, And stayed
there until his death. His name was Wyatt Coffelt. There is a
cemetery in Bentonville named after him. Pleasant cammee to Jasper
county in Missouri where hhe stayed for several years, then he too
went to Arkansaswhere he homesteaded land in 1820. I find no trace
of him after that. He had a sister, Nancy, who also came to MO., and
a brother, James who settled in Iowa where he lived until his death.
His family then went to Oregon. I believe Pleasant had a son named
Jasper. There were several Jaspers in the family but I'm not sure
who all their parents were. Pleasant's father was Jacob and his
grandfather's name was Phillip. They originally came from Germany in
about 1600 I believe and the name was Kauffelt until they decided to
change the spelling. These may be, or may not be the Coffelts you
are looking for. Ruby Steele e-mail rmsteele2(a)juno.com

Hoping to communicate with anyone research Jasper Coffelt of Washington State. I am the great-granddaughter of Olympia "Ollie" Christena/Christina (Coffelt) Summers. Hoping to find some people I had met at a family reunion in Washington State about 20 years ago...
